Deep Cover cast and character guide: Who plays whom in action comedy movie?

Bryce Dallas Howard, Orlando Bloom, and Nick Mohammed star in the action comedy film Deep Cover, which was released on June 12, 2025, and is currently one of the best movies you will see on Rotten Tomatoes. It's sitting fresh with 93% critics' approval based on 27 reviews as of this writing.

Tom Kingsley has directed the film. Before this, he directed a black comedy movie in 2016, The Darkest Universe, and an independent film in 2011, Black Pond. He collaborated on the 2011 movie with The White Lotus actor Will Sharpe for its direction.

The three mentioned actors are in the lead as Kat Boyles, Marlon Swift, and Hugh. All of them are approached by Sean Bean's Detective Sergeant Graham Billings, who recruits them for an undercover mission. Bryce Dallas Howard as Kat Boyles

Jurassic World's Bryce Dallas Howard is an improv teacher in Deep Cover, who is also the leader of this trio. She is first approached by a detective, seeking improv actors to execute a mission.

Orlando Bloom as Marlon Swift

Sindar Elf of the Woodland Realm, Legolas, from the Lord of the Rings films, found himself struggling a bit in the real world. Orlando Bloom is Marlon in the film, and unlike in the LoTR trilogy, you won't find his presence calming. It is understandable, though, given that he is dealing with the gangsters here.

Nick Mohammed as Hugh

Nick plays Hugh in Deep Cover and didn't think of becoming a part of this operation. Although he, too, is an improv actor like the two, he is more socially awkward than they are. Anyway, he completes this trio and goes on to do something different by the end of this movie.

Paddy Considine as Fly

Now that the trio is actively working on this investigation about counterfeit cigarettes, Fly is among the main characters they encounter in the film. Paddy Considine plays the role, and while the trio and he are playing on opposite sides, he is more like a friend.

Ian McShane as Metcalfe

Ian McShane is the boss, wherever he goes. He is Fly's boss in Deep Cover. He eventually decides to kill the trio and asks Fly to do it. However, Fly is reluctant to do that, as he is more on a friendly side now. It ends well for Fly but not for his boss.

Sean Bean as Detective Sergeant Graham Billings

One doesn't simply forget Sean Bean, especially when he is collaborating with his fellow from The Lord of the Rings. Like in LoTR, there isn't really a fellowship between them here either.
