Derek Rose, renowned designer, dies at 93

Popular British designer Derek Rose, known for being the founder of the eponymous brand, passed away at the age of 93. According to reports, the legendary designer who designs luxurious pajamas and sleepwear passed away on Friday, August 29, 2025. A statement from his brand was released announcing his death.

“It is with deep sadness that we share the news that our founder and chairman, Derek Peter Rose, passed away on 29 August 2025, surrounded by his family. Derek was not only the heart of our company but also a towering figure in British menswear.”

The statement added:

“He believed in beautiful design and that success is only meaningful when shared with others. We will miss his warmth, his humour, and his unwavering support. The Rose family and the Derek Rose team are committed to honouring Derek’s legacy. We will continue to uphold the values he lived by—quality without compromise, respect for craft, and a genuine care for the people who make and wear our garments.”

Who is Derek Rose?

Derek Rose is the founder of the British luxury pajamas brand, Derek Rose. He inherited the business from his father in the 1950s and has since grown the brand into a global powerhouse.

Several celebrated individuals, like former president Gerald Ford, Harry Styles, Leonardo DiCaprio, Sarah Jessica Parker, John Lennon, Eddie Redmayne, and Yoko Ono.

In a statement released by his son, Derek was “a towering figure in British menswear.”

“He believed in beautiful design and that success is only meaningful when shared with others. We will miss his warmth, his humor, and his unwavering support,” he added.
