The Roses, starring Olivia Colman and Benedict Cumberbatch, released on 29th August 2025.
A reimagining of the 1989 film, The War of the Roses, this film follows the plot of a married couple who deal with their deep-seated problems bubbling under the surface.
So, is there a post-credit scene after the film ends? Well, the answer is NO, it does not have one.
So, if you have left the theater immediately after the film ended, you do not need to feel the slightest bit of FOMO.

The Roses has no post-credit scene
The film concludes after the reunion of the tumultuous couple. So, when Ivy and Theo are indulging in their close, lovey-dovey moments, Theo commands the automatic home appliance system. But alas! Little do they know that a gas discharge is already occurring due to Ivy's faulty oven. It seems like chaos never really leaves the couple alone.
Just then, the screen gets washed into complete white. That's that. The movie ends. No credit cookie is attached at the end of the film. After such an unsettling and obscure ending, we do not really get a definitive, tangible answer. So you do not need to wait around for a funny, conclusive, or futuristic stinger to take place after the film ends.
The original film in 1989, starring Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner, is actually derived from a novel written by Warren Adler in 1981, named 'The War of the Roses'. This new black comedy film, however, is helmed by Jay Roach, with a screenplay penned by Tony McNamara.
Along with Olivia Colman and Benedict Cumberbatch, the film boasts a talented cast of actors, including:
- Ncuti Gatwa as Jeffrey
- Andy Samberg as Barry
- Kate McKinnon as Amy
- Zoë Chao as Sally
- Sunita Mani as Jane
- Allison Janney as Eleanor
- Jamie Demetriou as Rory
- Akie Kotabe as Alan
- Belinda Bromilow as Janice
- Delaney Quinn as the Younger Hattie Rose
- Hala Finley as the Older Hattie Rose
- Ollie Robinson as the Younger Roy Rose
- Wells Rappaport as the Older Roy Rose
Upon its release, the film garnered a rating of 7.0/10 at IMDb, and an average score of 65% on Rotten Tomatoes. Its Popcornmeter score, which is on the higher side, currently stands at 78%.
Regarding its box office performance, the film has garnered a worldwide collection of $20,584,152, as recorded by Box Office Mojo.
Interestingly, Kathreen Turner was seen at the NYC premiere of The Roses, as reported by JustJared. This was an exceptional moment, as we do not see the veteran star making a lot of public appearances.
