President Donald Trump plans the pardon of Todd and Julie Chrisley by Wednesday, May 28. Todd and Julie Chrisley are the stars of the reality show Chrisley Knows Best, which started in 2014. The couple was found guilty in 2022 for reportedly cheating banks.
Additionally, they were also found guilty of conspiracy to commit tax evasion and fraud and to defraud the United States. Todd got twelve years in prison, and Julie got seven years.
As per NBC News, President Donald Trump had a talk with Chrisley's children, Grayson and Savannah, on May 27. The call was dialed from his Oval Office to inform them about his plans to give their parents a pardon.
In the call, Trump was heard saying,
"Your parents are gonna be free and clean, and I hope we can do it by tomorrow (Wednesday). Is that okay? We'll try to getting it done tomorrow. I don't know them, but give them my regards and wish them a good life."
Trump further talked to them for some time about Alabama and uplifted them along with congratulating them on the good news. The video was posted by Trump’s adviser Margo Martin on X, with the caption,
"BREAKING! President Trump calls @_ItsSavannah_ to inform her that he will be granting full pardons to her parents, Todd and Julie Chrisley! Trump Knows Best!"
White House spokesperson backs Donald Trump's plans to pardon Todd and Julie Chrisley
After Trump shared his plans of forgiving Todd and Julie for the crime, the White House's spokesperson, Harrison Fields, also gave a statement, supporting Trump on the decision,
"The President is always pleased to give well-deserving Americans a second chance, especially those who have been unfairly targeted and overly prosecuted by an unjust justice system. President Trump called Savannah and her brother from the Oval Office to personally inform them that he would be pardoning their parents, Todd and Julie Chrisley, whose sentences were far too harsh"
As per NBC News, the pardon is most likely to be signed by Donald Trump within 24 hours.
Savannah Chrisley thanks Donald Trump
Soon after the news was released, Savannah Chrisley thanked Donald Trump for giving her parents a new chance on social media. In the post, she wrote,
"Thank you for believing in justice over vengeance. My fight was born out of love, but it was sustained by faith, truth, and the unshakable belief that our system should right its wrongs."
