Today show co-host Dylan Dreyer has confirmed her split from husband Brian Fichera after more than a decade of marriage. The meteorologist penned a message on Instagram informing the public of her decision, and also emphasized plans to continue being friends with Brian as they navigate co-parenting waters.
The message that Dylan Dreyer posted on Instagram read as follows:
"For many years I have shared my family with you all — the highs and lows. The ups and downs. And all of the blessings and beautiful memories in between. I am incredibly grateful for the support and love you’ve given me through it all. For that reason, I want to share with you that a few months ago, Brian and I made the decision to separate. We began as friends, and we will remain the closest of friends. Most importantly, we will continue to co-parent our three wonderful boys together with nothing but love and respect for another. Thank you as always for your support."
What lies ahead for Dylan Dreyer and Brian Fichera?
In 2012, Dylan Dreyer and Brian Fichera got married and the couple shares three kids, Calvin, Oliver, and Russell, aged eight, five, and three years, respectively. The New York Post adds that the couple had broken up months earlier before the announcement, but had decided to stay together during this time of transition.
Fichera had also appeared with Dylan Dreyer in the American Century Championship tournament recently, where he acted as her caddy. The couple had managed to maintain appearances in the months leading up to the announcement, even posting family photos together as recently as Father’s Day. However, Dylan showed up on the Today show today without her wedding band, as per the New York Post.
The official message released by Dylan Dreyer did not mention the reason behind the couple's separation, sparking substantial debate on social media, too. Dylan has talked about the hardships she had to endure in her then decade-long marriage in a 2022 interview. She had been quoted as saying:
"Our schedules mean we don’t see each other much, but we text all the time. Sometimes it’s even easier to have an important or deep conversation via text because we get all our thoughts out without being interrupted. We don’t find it impersonal. In fact, just the opposite. We know each other well enough to understand each other’s tone so a lot gets accomplished through texting!"
Following the break-up between Dylan and Brian, insiders close to the two have reported that they are still putting the welfare of their children first and are considering options to ensure that the separation does not hit their children hard. Brian has taken a break from his job already in order to tend to his young family.
