Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein is going higher and higher on the streaming platform Netflix following its limited theatrical release. It's currently the most viewed movie there, with nearly 30 million views and counting. Though that number's really low when we consider the platform's most-viewed movies of all time. But it's just getting started.

The film is an adaptation of Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus by Mary Shelley, which she wrote in 1818. We all know the basics here: a young scientist creates a sapient creature, whom many people often confuse with Frankenstein.

Jacob Elordi is playing The Creature in the movie, and Oscar Isaac is the leading man of the story, Frankenstein. Other than these two, Mia Goth plays two roles: Frankenstein's love interest, Lady Elizabeth Harlander, and his late mother, Baroness Claire Frankenstein.

As of this writing, the film is holding a critical rating of 86% according to the Tomatometer at the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes and an audience rating of 95% on the Popcornmeter.

While the critics' consensus on the website reads,

"Finding the humanity in one of cinema's most iconic monsters, Guillermo Del Toro's Frankenstein is a lavish epic that gets its most invigorating volts from Jacob Elordi's standout performance."

The audience says that,

"With his legendary visual touch, Guillermo Del Toro resurrects Frankenstein as a modern Prometheus that’s gloriously gothic and heart-breaking."

Given how it's striking the audiences, the movie has a real chance of getting into Netflix's top 10 list. Though we can't say how much time it may take.

What else is trending on Netflix?

The latest adaptation of this gothic tale sure is making waves, but you can also watch these trending films after you have finished watching it.

Katheryn Bigelow's A House of Dynamite was made available on Netflix recently. It was also given a limited theatrical release, and it opened with a good critical score. The film is about a nuclear threat that has been launched into the air with no options to stop it. Bigelow directed similar films before, including The Hurt Locker (2009), which gave her two Academy Awards, one for Best Picture and another for Best Director.

If you’re a fan of Tom Cruise, his sequel to the 2012 film Jack Reacher, Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, is currently among the top ten films streaming on the platform. While the sequel was directed by Edward Zwick, the original was helmed by Christopher McQuarrie, who had previously collaborated with Cruise on the Mission: Impossible films.

A 1996 legal drama starring Matthew McConaughey and Samuel L. Jackson, A Time to Kill, was the third most-watched movie on November 11, 2025. It's an adaptation of the novel of the same name by John Grisham, who is famous for his legal thrillers. The story is about a father who kills the rapists of his daughter, as he believes that the system might fail.

Additionally, KPop Demon Hunters (2025), Focus (2015), Shrek Forever After (2010), and more were also among the top ten films on Netflix yesterday.
