Freakier Friday is about to test Anna and Tess' patience even further as the body swap adventure gets another twist.
The new trailer for this comedy movie teases a whole other level of chaos as Anna (Lindsay Lohan) decides to marry Eric Davies (Manny Jacinto). However, his daughter Lily (Sophia Hammons) is far from pleased. As if there's not enough tension, there's more. Lily doesn't get along too well with Anna's daughter, Harper (Julia Butters). However, it all changes when they swap bodies with the Colemans.
Anna switches bodies with Harper, while grandmother Tess (Jamie Lee Curtis) switches with Lily. Last time, a body-swap shenanigan forced Anna and Tess to work in each other's shoes and see the world through each other's eyes. However, this time, they are on the same team, and so are the kids. So, how will Lily and Harper's relationship play out? Will they be friends or stay foes? The new trailer shares some details. Watch it here:
Freakier Friday will show the teenagers trying to "break their parents for good."
Freakier Friday is about to bring another dimension to Anna and Tess's relationship as they look forward to Anna's wedding. However, after another body swap, the kids take charge with a devilish scheme. Harper and Lily decide to break their parents apart. For that, Harper tries to reunite Anna with her first love, her ex-boyfriend Jake (Chad Michael Murray). Things hardly go as planned, but it might just bring Lily and Harper together as friends.
We'll know more when the movie comes out on August 8. Until then, the trailer reveals plenty about the characters and what they are up to. Before all the body-swap chaos, Anna is genuinely looking forward to being with Eric. At her bachelorette party, she and Tess speak with a fortune teller (Vanessa Bayer), who knows about their last body-swap encounter.
"You've walked in each other's shoes. You learned a lesson. A lesson might serve you again," she says.
Her ominous warning foreshadows Anna and Tess' lives. The body swap happens right before the wedding, but by then, Anna and Tess have learned how to cope with it. They know that they have to convince the world of the roles they are playing until things turn back to normal, but teenagers are more excited about all the adventures.
After all, they get a free pass to be the adults. What can possibly go wrong? Well, there's always more than what meets the eye. So, the movie will possibly reveal what awaits these four women.
Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan talk about reprising their roles in Freakier Friday.
Lindsay Lohan returns to the body-swap comedy universe as Anna, who has a better understanding of Tess. So, she worked on Freakier Friday with that knowledge and self-awareness. During a conversation with Entertainment Weekly on April 29, 2025, she spoke about how her character has evolved in the sequel.
"I just went into it back then, how different she would be now, and how she has learned from Tess. Actually, 'this Anna' is a lot more like Tess. I used more of [Jamie Lee Curtis'] character and that really inspired me and I channeled it."
Jamie Lee Curtis also looks back fondly at their hit 2003 comedy movie. She spoke highly about "the energy, the enthusiasm of constant refrain" about it and added,
"She is probably the closest to Jamie. I'm very Tess-like."
