According to reports, Glen Powell bagged a role in an upcoming untitled project by Ron Howard, supported by Amazon MGM Studios. The story involves two firefighters on a journey of maneuvering friendship in the aftermath of a fire tragedy.
Glen Powell is currently riding high on his back-to-back success, with his 2024 hit, Twisters. Glen Powell is also starring in the upcoming films, including John Patton's Huntington, as well as Edgar Wright's The Running Man.
The Academy and Golden Globe-winning filmmaker Ron Howard, is known for his directorial work in films including A Beautiful Mind (2001), The Da Vinci Code (2006), Inferno (2009), Rush (2013), Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018), to name a few.

The Golden Globe-nominated actor, Glen Powell, is now on board for Ron Howard's forthcoming directorial. The name of the project is not known yet.
The story will be penned by Christina Hodson, who has previously written films such as Birds of Prey (2020) and The Flash (2023). The story pitch by Hodson has been obtained by Amazon MGM studios, and therefore, she will be writing the script. Christina Hodson is also the executive producer of the film.
This is not the first time helmer Ron Howard has explored the lives of firefighters. His 1991 film Backdraft, starring Kurt Russell, William Baldwin, Scott Glenn, and Robert De Niro, follows the plot of two brothers' strained relationship from childhood, who are firefighters by profession. The film has received nominations at the Oscars as well.
Earlier, it was reported that Glen Powell would be starring in a remake of Ron Howard's Backdraft. But now we know that the actor is starring in a completely different firefighter film altogether. Besides Powell, no other cast details of the film have been revealed yet.
This upcoming film, too, focuses on the story of two firefighters. But this time, it explores the friendship between two childhood buddies. They grow up to become firefighters and strive to mend their broken friendship after a string of fire tragedies in Texas.
Along with acting, Powell is also producing the film, from his production house, Barnstorm, along with Dan Cohen. It is produced by Imagine Entertainment as well, as the helmer himself joins the banner along with Jeb Brody and Brian Grazer.
Besides Twisters, Powell is known for his work in films including The Expendables (2014), Hidden Figures (2016), Top Gun: Maverick (2022), Hit Man (2023), Anyone but You (2023), and many more. He is also about to star in a forthcoming project by J.J. Abrams along with Jenna Ortega and Emma Mackey.
