"Have an addiction to Eminem?'' American rap god and singer is finally here to answer all your burning questions in Stans, Paramount+'s upcoming docufilm based on Eminem's loyal and somewhat crazy fanbase.
Paramount+ recently unveiled the trailer for its upcoming docufilm, releasing on August 26, 2025. The trailer opens with a breakdown of its title (Stan), a word that was added to the Merriam-Webster dictionary in 2019:
''An overzealous or obsessive fan, esp. of a particular celebrity.''
The title of the docufilm is eponymous with one of Eminem's 2000 songs and its music video about an overzealous fan. The song eventually made the term (stan) popular and even launched it into the official English dictionary. Decades later, the term Stans is again gaining popularity thanks to Eminem's upcoming film.
Directed by Steven Leckart, the official synopsis for the docufilm reads as follows:
''[It focuses on the] complicated relationship between one of the world’s most private artists and his massive public persona...''
Stans' trailer features archival footage of Eminem during concerts amid a sea of fans and exclusive interviews with the artist answering the most private questions about his life.

Stans: Paramount+ drops the official trailer for the upcoming docufilm on Eminem
An otherwise private artist, the OG artist of rap music, finally gets up close and personal with his fans in the first trailer of Stans. The trailer features rapid shots of Eminem against a background of echoing questions about his personal life and his hit 2000 song:
"Why did you write the song 'Stan?' is Stan based on a real fan?" a fan asks
"What the hell goes on in your brain? another adds
“How does it feel to be followed by so many people?" the string of fan questions continues in the trailer
As the voices die down and the trailer comes to an end, Eminem sits in front of the camera, asking:
"What's your first question?"
That is what the Stans trailer leaves you with- an anticipation for the world's most popular rap artist to break his silence.
The idea for Stans began in April 2024, when Eminem asked his loyal fans to fill out a questionnaire and participate in a survey, which eventually culminated in the docufilm. The Paramount+ movie marked its premiere at the first-ever London edition of the SXSW festival, where many of Eminem's fans took the red carpet in white tank tops and bleached hair, reminiscent of his 2000s music video.
The docufilm then made its way to AMC Theatres from August 7 to August 10, 2025, following which it will make its global debut on Paramount+ on August 26, 2025.
The official synopsis for Stans continues as follows:
"Through stylized recreations, rare archival footage, intimate interviews, and an exclusive original interview with Eminem himself, it offers a raw, loud, and revealing journey across his career — and the passionate audience that has grown with him."
In addition to an ode to the 15-time Grammy winner's Stan music video, the docufilm will also closely examine the evolving relationship between an artist and their fans. Ever since Eminem's 2000 song, which was about an unstable fan who took their admiration too far, the word has gained popularity. The docufilm will feature a never-before-seen side of the artist, while closely examining his most loyal superfans.
