Jeremy Allen White described how he first met Bruce Springsteen in an interview with Interview Magazine released on October 21. White recounted being in Paris the summer before filming, where he was asked to watch Bruce Springsteen rehearse, who was performing at Wembley.

Adding to the details, he said:

"He’s up onstage and I’m down below and we shake hands. And so our first meeting was onstage at Wembley, talking for about 20 minutes. I’m talking about the girls, and he’s talking about his grandkids, and then we go backstage and talk a bit more about the movie, and I spend time with him until about 10 minutes before he goes on."

Jeremy Allen White later recalled that once the stadium was full, he was offstage with friends when Bruce Springsteen locked eyes with him and played directly to him for about 30 seconds.

White continued:

"He found me that time and two other times throughout the night to try and give me a taste of what it’s like to be up there and why these guys can’t quit it. And of course they can’t. I’m sure there’s nothing better than being able to perform for people like that."

The actor is playing the role of Bruce Springsteen in the biopic Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere, scheduled to be released on October 24.

Jeremy Allen White shows admiration for Bruce Springsteen

During the interview, Jeremy Allen White also spoke about his admiration for Bruce Springsteen and his longtime bond with Jon Landau, who has managed and guided Bruce’s career and public image.

Talking about the movie shoot, White recalled that the first week was nerve-wracking with Bruce around, after which he asked Bruce for some space. Admiring Bruce, White said:

"I’m so impressed by him in so many ways, but I think the biggest way is after all the success and notoriety, his relationship to the world feels pretty unchanged. He’s very available to everybody that comes up to him. It must be difficult to be a rock star of that age and still be so in touch with the world."

Along with talking about Bruce Springsteen, White also shared a bit about the movie, saying it follows Bruce during The River tour, when he was famous but feeling lost. White connected with a moment Bruce described, feeling like a witness to his own life, and saw it as a turning point where he opened himself up to love.

Talking about the insecurities Bruce had, Jeremy Allen White said:

"I think the fight that’s going on in this movie, the internal fight, was: He was fighting for the family he would have, but he didn’t know it yet. Now he’s got all these beautiful things, but at the time, I think his greatest fear was, “Okay, maybe I can’t. Maybe I’m not good enough for this."
