Liverpool star Diogo Jota and his younger brother André Silva died in a car accident on Thursday, July 3, 2025. As per Sky News, the tire of their Lamborghini Urus blew up, causing the car to veer off the road, crash, and burst into flames. The incident took place in Zamora, in northwestern Spain.

Among his teammates who shared the tributes was Virgil van Dijk, Liverpool's captain. He wrote a long note, which reads:

The statement continues:

Liverpool teammates share tributes for Diogo Jota
After the news of Jota and his brother's death came out, his teammates came forward to honor him with heartfelt tributes. The Liverpool star, Andy Robertson, paid a lengthy tribute to Diogo on his Instagram post. Andy and Jota were teammates for five years and had played the Premier League, FA Cup, and League Cup together. In the tribute note, Andy wrote:
"The ones I’m thinking about most right now are the family. Their loss is too much to bear. I’m so sorry that they have lost two such precious souls – Diogo and Andre. For the team and the Club, we’ll try to cope with this together… however long that takes.
"For me, I want to talk about my mate. My buddy. The bloke I loved and will miss like crazy. I could talk about him as a player for hours, but none of that feels like it matters right now. It’s the man. The person. He was such a good guy. The best. So genuine. Just normal and real.

There are no words of comfort for so much pain. I will always remember you with your smile, as a good companion on and off the field. I send all my strength to his family, from where he is I'm sure he will always be with you, especially his wife and three children. 💔
