How did Lukas Gage and Chris Appleton's relationship evolve? Timeline explored amid recent memoir drama

The celebrity hairstylist, Chris Appleton, and The White Lotus star Lukas Gage, who shared a high-profile relationship in the past, have been the talk of the town since both have their memoirs coming out within months of each other.

From rumors of the two being in a relationship that began back in February 2023 to their wedding that took place in April of the same year, and their divorce that was finalized in June 2024, their relationship moved extremely fast and had a fair share of drama.

Lukas's memoir, I Wrote This for Attention, is coming out in October 2025, while Chris's Your Roots Don’t Define You is scheduled for January 2026.

The rumors began when the two were spotted vacationing in Mexico in 2023. In the following months, the two made a red-carpet appearance together in March. As per Glamour, Appleton confirmed the romance on The Drew Barrymore Show, hosted by actress Drew Barrymore, where he said that he was “very much in love.''

Lukas also confirmed the relationship on the Today show, where, as per Elle, he said:

''I feel very happy, very lucky, and very much in love. He’s a good-looking man. There’s something about being in London. I think I got a taste of the Brits and…I couldn’t help myself.''

Then, in April of 2023, reports surfaced that the two had secretly gotten engaged, even before picking out rings. On April 22, they married in Las Vegas, and the wedding was officiated by Kim Kardashian. Shania Twain performed at their intimate ceremony. The wedding had many celebrities in attendance and created social media buzz.

However, their marriage was short-lived. In November 2023, Appleton filed for divorce, citing "irreconcilable differences,'' and the divorce was finalized in June 2024. In an episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Lukas described the whirlwind romance as a “manic episode”, calling the Las Vegas wedding "one of the most unhinged things" he’s ever done, according to Them. By March 2024, he referred to his marriage to Chris as a period of ‘learning, growing, and changing.’od of “learning, growing, changing.''

Chris Appleton appeared on Jay Shetty’s On Purpose podcast in August 2025, where he spoke about his relationship and marriage to Lukas. He described how painful the breakup was, despite how it looked on the outside, as per People. He said:

''I think people have this perception, from social media probably, that I have it together. I work with these amazing people, life looks glamorous. So, from the outside, it probably looks like I got it all together.''

He also mentioned how he used therapy to navigate the emotional fallout. He said:
