“You can love someone and there not be a forever happy ending”: Chris Appleton opens up about his divorce from Lukas Gage 

Chris Appleton has opened up about the circumstances surrounding the dissolution of his marriage to Lukas Gage. The hairstylist appeared as a guest on the On Purpose podcast on August 6, 2025, discussing his marriage to the White Lotus actor.

Appleton and Gage had met sometime in 2023 and sparked romance rumors after pictures of them vacationing together went viral. They married in April 2023 and filed for divorce six months later. In the On Purpose podcast, Chris Appleton talked about the divorce:

“You can love someone and there not be a forever happy ending. And just because it's not forever doesn't mean it didn't mean something.”

He continued, stating that he had learned about boundaries and how to be loved from his past relationships:

"Any relationship I've ever gone into, I've learned so much from it—what's important to me in terms of boundaries, how I want to be loved, how I want to love—and that's a beautiful thing. It means you're always growing and evolving.”

Chris Appleton addressed the criticism that he and Gage had gotten married too early.

"Moving fast doesn't always mean you're reckless,” Chris explained. “Sometimes it means you're hopeful. I've gone into any relationship I've ever been into with an open heart, and I have no regrets about that.”

The 42-year-old opened up to Jay Shetty in the On Purpose podcast about the last days of his marriage to Lukas Gage. Appleton shared that he was depressed in those times and got through it by finding alignment and working towards inner peace.

“One of the biggest lessons I learned is finding alignment,” the hairstylist said. “What I do is all about visuals, but there was a real peace in finding alignment and inner peace on the inside. That wasn't an easy process, but when you align those two, when you genuinely feel good on the inside, that's when your real power comes in place.”

Chris Appleton, who shares two children, Billy and Kitty Blu, with former partner Kate Katon, stated that he didn’t want his children caught in the crosshairs of the controversy surrounding his marriage to Gage.

“As a dad, I wanted to protect my kids,” he shared. “I'm very aware [with any relationship I go into] that there will be conversation around that. So for me, making sure that I had that internal alignment—which I'd never had my whole life—finding that, being comfortable with that and finding happiness was a really beautiful thing.”
