The film industry pays tribute to Robert Redford

Singer and actress Barbra Streisand wrote on Instagram:

"The last time I saw him, when he came to lunch, we discussed art and decided to send each other our first drawings. He was one of a kind and I’m so grateful to have had the opportunity to work with him. #RobertRedford"

A statement by the Albuquerque Film & Music Experience to KRQE read:

"As a champion of independent cinema and a visionary, his impact on the film world is immeasurable. Alongside his wife, Sibylle Szaggars-Redford, Mr. Redford believed in AFMX’s vision from the very beginning, and it is no exaggeration to say that without their support, AFMX would not be what it is today – a platform for artistic expression that brings together creatives to collaborate and co-create into the future. Mr. Redford’s belief in the power of community, storytelling, and the creative spirit will forever be the cornerstone of our festival."

Sundance Film Festival wrote on X:

"Beyond his enormous contributions to culture at large, we will miss his generosity, clarity of purpose, curiosity, rebellious spirit, and his love for the creative process. We are humbled to be among the stewards of his remarkable legacy, which will continue to guide the Institute in perpetuity."

Actor Morgan Freeman tweeted on X:

"There are certain people you know that you’re going to click with. After working with Robert Redford on Brubaker in 1980, we instantly became friends. Working with him again in An Unfinished Life was a dream come true. Rest peacefully, my friend."

The Academy, remembering Redford, wrote on X:

“The glory of art is that it can not only survive change, it can lead it.” Robert Redford reminded us of the power of cinema, of freedom, and of the artists who risk everything to tell their stories. Today, we remember his words, his life and career that forever shaped the landscape of film."
