Donald Trump is singing a different tune concerning Taylor Swift. He has congratulated her on her engagement to Kansas City Chiefs tight end, calling Swift a “terrific person” and the athlete a “a great guy.”

The President of the United States was asked after an hour-long cabinet meeting about his thoughts on the Blank Space crooner’s engagement, and he replied with positive words for the couple:

“Well, I wish them a lot of luck,” Trump said. “I think it’s — I think he’s a great player, I think he’s a great guy, and I think that she’s a terrific person. So I wish them a lot of luck.”

Donald Trump hasn’t always said the nicest things about Taylor Swift, especially since she endorsed his former presidential running mate Kamala Harris.

In a joint post on Instagram, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, who began dating in 2023, announced their engagement on August 26, 2025.

The couple shared a carousel of photos, which included pictures of the NFL player proposing to the singer in a romantic garden and a close-up shot of the unique engagement ring designed by Kelce in collaboration with Kindred Lubeck and Artifex Fine Jewelry.

Their engagement post was captioned:

“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”

Some of the Things Donald Trump has said about Taylor Swift in the past.

On September 11, 2024, in an interview with Fox & Friends, Trump said about Taylor Swift:

"I was not a Taylor Swift fan. It was just a question of time. ... But she’s a very liberal person. She seems to always endorse a Democrat. And she’ll probably pay a price for it in the marketplace."

Some days later, Trump shared a post on his social media platform Truth Social where he wrote in all caps:

“I hate Taylor Swift.”

In August 2025, the politician doubled down on his statement about the 14-time Grammy Award-winning artist, saying:

"Just look at Woke singer Taylor Swift. Ever since I alerted the world as to what she was by saying on TRUTH that I can’t stand her (HATE!). She was booed out of the Super Bowl and became NO LONGER HOT."

He added:

"The tide has seriously turned — Being WOKE is for losers, being Republican is what you want to be. Thank you for your attention to this matter!"
