How did Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift share their engagement with family? Kansas City Chiefs player's dad offers new details

Taylor Swift and the football tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, Travis Kelce, announced their engagement in a joint Instagram post. Travis's father, Ed Kelce, told ABC 5 that the couple facetimed him after their engagement and shared the news.

His father revealed that the engagement had taken place nearly two weeks prior and that Travis had proposed to Taylor in a garden in Lee's Summit, Missouri. The couple shared the news by saying:

''Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨''

The proposal comes roughly two years after the couple first began dating privately in the summer of 2023.

According to People, Ed was at Philadelphia Eagles practice when he got a call from Travis, sharing the big news. Describing the engagement, Ed said:

''He got her out there, they were about to go out to dinner, and he said, 'Let's go out and have a glass of wine,' ... they got out there, and that's when he asked her, and it was beautiful.''

He continued:

''I was at ... an Eagles practice, a public practice that they had a lot of people that, well, the Eagles had 60,000 people at a public practice two weeks ago on a Sunday night.''

He then explained, saying that while he was at the practice, he got a FaceTime call from Travis, and that Taylor was also present there, and that he just knew what they were going to tell him. He then added, saying:

''They started FaceTiming me and their mother and her folks to make sure everybody knew. So, to see them together is great.''

As per reports, Travis was personally involved in picking the engagement ring. He worked with Kindred Lubeck, a jewelry designer from Artifex Fine Jewelry, to design a custom engagement ring for Taylor Swift. The diamond itself is an “Old Mine brilliant cut”, a vintage style diamond and it can be seen in the posts shared by the couple on social media.

According to Page Six, Kelce wanted to do the engagement in a traditional style and had asked Swift's parents permission as well. A source close to Kelce said:

''Scott has been asked for his blessing and has wholeheartedly given it, and Travis has been talking to friends about a ring.''

Just a few days back, Travis and Taylor were seen together on the New Heights podcast hosted by Travis Kelce and his brother Jason. On the podcast, Swift revealed her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl.
