In a recent conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, Tom Cruise discussed his future in the film industry. The 62-year-old actor, who is enjoying the praises of the upcoming final film of the celebrated franchise, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, at the Cannes Film Festival, talked about his enthusiasm to continue making movies till he turns 100, as he stated:
"[...]actually, I’m going to make them into my 100s."

“I will never stop", says Tom Cruise about the future of his career
Back in 2023, while speaking to the Sydney Morning Herald, Tom Cruise expressed admiration for veteran actor Harrison Ford, who, although in his 80s, has been active in his career. Ford's most recent role has been President Thaddeus Ross a.k.a. The Red Hulk in MCU's Captain America: Brave New World.
Cruise talked about Harrison Ford and conveyed his intent to keep making films of the Mission: Impossible franchise till he reaches 80, as he said:
“Harrison Ford is a legend, I hope to be still going, I’ve got 20 years to catch up with him. I hope to keep making Mission: Impossible films until I’m his age.”
Cut to 2025, Cruise's final film in the Mission: Impossible franchise is about to release, and The Hollywood Reporter, referencing his previous interview, enquired him about making Mission: Impossible movies till his 80s. To which, Tom Cruise swiftly responded that the age has now been updated and pushed to his 100s. He stated:
“I actually said I’m going to make movies into my 80s; actually, I’m going to make them into my 100s.”
He has also mentioned that apart from doing action films, he is also keen on acting in films across different genres, including comedy and drama, as he further added:
“I will never stop. I will never stop doing action, I will never stop doing drama, comedy films — I’m excited.”
Tom Cruise has had a stellar career in films since the 1980s. Regarded as one of the most successful actors of all time, some of his most iconic films, other than the Mission: Impossible franchise, include Risky Business (1983), the Top Gun film series (1986, 2022), Rain Man (1988), Born on the Fourth of July (1989), A Few Good Men (1992), Jerry Maguire (1996), Magnolia (1999), Eyes Wide Shut (1999), Vanilla Sky (2001), Minority Report (2002), Collateral (2004), Knight and Day (2010), Edge of Tomorrow (2014), amongst many others.
While speaking to the outlet, the actor also reminisced about the rich journey and legacy of the Mission: Impossible film series, which spans up to 29 years since its release. Cruise talks about his love for films and his gratitude towards the experience that he has had with the franchise all over the years, as he stated:
“There’s been so many levels of reward with the filmmakers that I’ve collaborated with, the crews, the people, the cultures that we’ve worked in. Everything that I’ve learned and continue to learn about storytelling, about life, about leadership, about character and every aspect of filmmaking. It’s been exceptional, it really is exceptional. I feel very fortunate to be able to make the films that I make and I love it, I just making movies.”
