“I wouldn’t be good at it”: This is what Kingsman star Taron Egerton had to say about playing James Bond

Taron Egerton's Eggsy was pure class in the Kingsman franchise, though he needed some polishing by Harry Hart, played by the classy Colin Firth. But by the explosive end of The Golden Circle, we had someone who would be the perfect James Bond.

However, Egerton doesn't think that he will be a great fit to fill the shoes of the iconic character Ian Fleming created. Recently, the James Bond fan favorite was in a conversation with Collider, where he ruled himself out of this race. He told them,

"No. And I don't think I'm a good choice for it. I think I'm too messy for that. I think I'm not— I really love James Bond and particularly Daniel Craig's tenure. But I think I wouldn't be good at it, and I think there's so many cool, younger actors who would be great for it. I think it would be wasted on me, probably."

Although we may not see him donning a tux with a shaken (not stirred) martini, the actor will be seen in the third mainline Kingsman film, The Blue Blood. There's no release date for the Taron Egerton film, but Matthew Vaughn, the franchise co-creator, wants to make it before Firth and Egerton are too old to appear in what should be the conclusion of this classy duo. But 20th Century Studios doesn't seem to have any plans for that.

The Kingsman actor will next appear in Nick Rowland's She Rides Shotgun. He will play a father to an eleven-year-old, Polly McClusky (Ana Sophia Heger), where an unexpected reunion will lead to some unexpected situations. Egerton plays Nate, who is fresh out of jail. Now he must safeguard his daughter from whatever evil he brought with him.

Other than Taron Egerton and Heger, Travis Hammer, Keith Jardine, Santiago Segura, and more are in the film, too.

The YouTube trailer gives a gist of the film. It is set for release on August 1, 2025, in limited theaters. Streaming details about it are unknown as of this writing.

The search for the James Bond successor is still on, with many prospects on the line. Recently, a partnership between luxury Swiss watch brand OMEGA and 28 Days Later actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson sparked conversation about the actor being potentially eyed for the role.

GQ magazine has a list of potential actors who can succeed Daniel Craig as the eighth Bond. That list includes Henry Cavill, Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, and more. Taron Egerton was on the list too.
