Is NBA YoungBoy banned from performing in Louisiana? NOPD issues statement

NBA YoungBoy recently performed two shows at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Now reports have emerged that the singer has allegedly been banned from performing in Louisiana for as long as Anne Kirkpatrick is the superintendent of the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD).

This is false. The singer has not been banned from performing in Louisiana. In response to these reports, the NOPD Communications Director, Officer Reese Harper, issued the following statement to XXL, refuting the claim of such a ban:

"Whether or not NBA YoungBoy performs future concerts in Louisiana is a matter solely between his promoters and the management of the Smoothie King Center, who negotiate and execute those agreements. The New Orleans Police Department has no authority or involvement in determining which artists are permitted to perform in the city."

The statement continues:

"On Monday, October 20, 2025, Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick confirmed to Smoothie King Center management that NBA YoungBoy did not leave town following either of his two concerts—in accordance with the agreement established between Smoothie King Center management and Live Nation, the artist’s promoter."

The latter half of the statement refers to the fact that NBA YoungBoy was by himself on New Orleans streets after his shows, and had to be carried away to his car by police officers after he was swarmed by fans. NBA YoungBoy was reluctant and did not want to leave the city.

During the two concerts, over 400 police officers, as well as drones and armoured vehicles, were deployed in and around the city. The concert also saw the venue mandate a strict no-bag policy. These measures were taken to increase safety and security at the event.

NBA YoungBoy had several concerts canceled

NBA YoungBoy has had several of his concerts canceled during his ongoing MASA tour. The singer had his concert in Chicago canceled. Alongside that, his concert in Detroit as well as his second show at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia, were also canceled. The singer's tour also saw some violence in Kansas, when a young fan assaulted an elderly employee at the venue.
