We all know that Frank Castle/The Punisher will have a Disney+ solo special next year. Other than that, The Hollywood Reporter published a report on June 20, 2025, stating that Spider-Man: Brand New Day has added Jon Bernthal to its cast. The report explicitly stated that Bernthal was playing the Netflix and Disney+ character Frank Castle.

While The Hollywood Reporter is a well-reputed publication, Marvel did not talk about Frank Castle's role in the upcoming Spider-Man movie, which is scheduled to release in July 2026. However, Kevin Feige finally confirmed The Punisher's role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Furthermore, Feige also had some interesting teases for Brand New Day.

Kevin Feige also confirms The Punisher's role and offers interesting teases for the movie

Kevin Feige offered interesting insight into the future of the MCU and its projects, including Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The Marvel Studios boss first teased what the upcoming live-action Spider-Man movie will revolve around. He also revealed that Brand New Day will follow a lonely Peter who needs to come to terms with his great power while dealing with greater guilt.

Feige also confirmed that the upcoming movie will be grounded in comparison to Spider-Man: No Way Home and promised that Spider-Man: Brand New Day will mark a new era for the Wall Crawler's character arc in the MCU, saying:

“I think there’s a promise at the end of No Way Home, that for as sad as it is that Peter is forgotten by everyone in his life, we are seeing for the first time in the Tom Holland Spider-Man stories him being a proper Spider-Man. Him being by himself, dedicated to saving the city, and dealing with — for lack of better terms — street-level crime, as opposed to world-ending events.”

After this, the Marvel head honcho went on to confirm Jon Bernthal's The Punisher's involvement in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, saying:

“So when you do that, you say, okay, who are the other street-level characters that we’ve never seen him interact with? And of course, I love that The Punisher started in a Spider-Man comic. That great cover... I don’t want to say too much, but Destin — I will say too much — Destin is doing an amazing job right now on that movie, which starts shooting very soon. And he’s got eight or nine comic covers up on his wall in his art department that he is bringing to life in this movie, which is super cool.”

Rumors suggest that Spider-Man and The Punisher team up to face the Hulk

On May 26, 2025, entertainment portal Nexus Point News published a report stating that Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner/Hulk was also involved in Brand New Day. Moreover, the internet is rife with rumors that the movie will also mark the return of the angry Hulk that was last seen on-screen in 2019's Avengers: Endgame as the heroes travel back in time to 2012.

This rumor gained new traction when DP Brett Pawlak posted some photos featuring the savage Hulk on his Pinterest account. However, those images are unavailable for now. Thus, if the savage Hulk is indeed in this movie, we may see Frank Castle and Spider-Man teaming up to beat an irate Hulk.
