Tom Pelphrey says he and his fiancée, Kaley Cuoco, would like to work together one day. But he also says it might take some time to find the right project. Pelphrey, 43, tells People that they are both open to collaboration. He says that for now, it has to be something special.

"We are interested in that. But it's gonna really have to be the right thing, so it will probably take a while."

He says his style is more intense or dramatic, while she leans toward comedy.

"Kaley tends to live more comedically, whereas, you know, often people don't let me within 10 feet of a comedy."

Because of that, they have not yet found a project that fits both of them well. He says the work feels different for each of them.

How do Tom Pelphrey & Kaley Cuoco's work styles differ?

Tom Pelphrey explained that Kaley tends to work more comedically. He said people often do not let him close to comedy roles. He said with respect that comedy is not his usual terrain. Also, he said,

"I have so much respect for her and admiration, but I know enough — I know myself well enough — to know I could never work like she does. Likewise, sometimes she sees me work intensely and she's like, 'What are you doing?!' "

Pelphrey says that both of them "do the same thing," acting. But, to him, sometimes it "feels like we have different jobs." He says,

"The approach is so different, it feels like we're talking about two different things. Figuring out how those different things can come together and what the right, like, vehicle for that would be … we're definitely interested in doing it, but so far we haven't found what we felt like was the right thing."

He also says they give each other feedback, discuss their work, and help each other. But even with that help, they have not yet found the right "vehicle" or project that suits both their strengths. Tom Pelphrey says he is interested in teaming up, but only when the moment feels right and the project matches both their styles.

Tom Pelphrey & Kaley Cuoco's life now

Tom Pelphrey & Kaley Cuoco got engaged in August 2024. They share a daughter, Matilda. Matilda is now 2 years old, and family time is important to Pelphrey. He says,

"This was one of the great things about the job. Where we were filming, I rented a house, and Kaley and Matilda were with me. It was a very special job for me in that sense. I really felt a sense of home."

He also talks about his new HBO miniseries Task, which premiered September 7, 2025. The show was filmed in Pennsylvania. Being able to have his family nearby while working deeply matters to him.

Pelphrey says Matilda is a priority. He said,

"Spending time with her is a nonnegotiable. It's very important to me."

He says being a father now has changed what he considers most important. Career, yes, but family first. He says,

"If you would’ve told me 15 years ago that I could be with the love of my life and have the most perfect baby and get to do what I love, it’s wild. You’re living your dream. And I’m very conscious of that."

Tom Pelphrey’s comments show that while the idea of working with Kaley Cuoco is appealing, it is not something he sees occurring very soon. He wants the right match where both their skills, styles, and lives align. He also wants a project that feels natural and meaningful for both.

For now, he balances his roles as actor, fiancée, and father. And he seems okay with taking time to find the right thing to share on the screen.
