Jeremy Allan White talks about how moved he was post Hamnet viewing

Jeremy Allan White expresses his thoughts about the upcoming film Hamnet, as he speaks to Josh Horowitz at the Happy Sad Confused podcast. In the interview, The Bear actor candidly reveals:

"I saw Hamnet in Telluride and I haven’t been that devastated walking out of a theater."

This historical drama film was showcased this year at the Telluride Film Festival. Helmed by Chloé Zhao, this film follows the personal journey of William Shakespeare that stirred the playwright to create one of the most iconic tragedies of all times, 'Hamlet'. As per Variety, it is scheduled to make its limited release on 27th November 2025, and shall make a wider release across the country on 12th December 2025.

Jeremy Allan White shares the intense emotional impact Hamnet had on him

In the recent Happy Sad Confused podcast, Jeremy Allan White expresses his visceral feelings after watching Hamnet at the Telluride Film Festival.

When Josh Horowitz asked the actor about which film made him sad. Upon which, he took this particular film's name. This is what Allan White mentions about the profound impact the movie has had on him, as he states:

"I saw Hamnet in Telluride and I haven’t been that devastated walking out of a theater. And I saw them after and it was embarrassing cause I was like, I didn't have anything for them. And I wish I could have talked to them later about it, you know."

In a continuing statement, Jeremy Allan White is all praise for actor Jessie Buckley, who is in the lead cast of the movie, as he mentions:

"And I have done something with Jessie [Buckley] before and I know her and I wanted to just be like 'you're the greatest', cause she is. But instead, I was just kind of like 'You!', you know, it was really bad. Hopefully I'll find her soon, be able to talk to her about it."

Upon which, Horowitz responded by bringing up the fact that, given the poignant storytelling of the film, this emotional response ought to be a common one amongst audience, as he says:

"They're probably gonna get a lot of that. Just people just like seeing them and dispersing into tears."

To which, the Springsteen star utters:

"Totally."

Jessie Buckley portrays the role of Shakespeare's wife Agnes in the film. Apart from her, Hamnet also stars Paul Mescal, who portrays the role of the celebrated English playwright and poet. Along with them, we also have Joe Alwyn, David Wilmot, Emily Watson, Olivia Lynes, Jacobi Jupe and many others.

Going by Jeremy Allan White's statement about the film, we can certainly expect it to be remarkable and one of a kind. The film has also garnered impressive ratings, scoring up to 87% on Rotten Tomatoes and an 8.2/10 on IMDb. The story of the film is derived from a novel penned by Maggie O'Farrell carrying the homonym. It was released back in 2020.
