Jurassic World Rebirth screenwriter David Koepp recently spoke about filmmaker Steven Spielberg's involvement in the film. The upcoming movie marks Koepp's return to the franchise after starting it with the 1993 classic and following it up with the script for the 1997 sequel. That is one of the reasons to get excited about this project.
Based on the trailers, Rebirth seems like a terrifying chapter in this saga, much similar to the foundational projects directed by Spielberg. That's why many fans considered it a return to the franchise's original form. That might be because Spielberg was deeply involved in the creative process for Rebirth, according to Koepp.
During a recent conversation with Deadline, Koepp shed light on the same topic. When asked about Spielberg's guidance for the project, he said,
"Yes, he was very involved. That is one of the reasons why I most wanted to do it because Steven was deeply involved from the beginning. For the six months we were working on the script, it was really just him and me. I get his notes, I send him my ideas, [and] we'd work, we'd work, we'd work."
Spielberg is currently one of the executive producers on this project directed by Gareth Edwards, and based on Koepp's comments, it might give a stylistic deja vu to the director's fans.
Gareth Edwards also spoke about Steven Spielberg's inspiration for the project.

Jurassic World Rebirth introduces us to another chapter in the lives of the world created by Michael Crichton, which has won over audiences since 1993. So, it would be challenging for any writer or director to get on board to take this franchise forward. Colin Trevorrow did that with the Jurassic World trilogy, and now it is Gareth Edwards' time to prove his mettle in this fan-favorite film series.
The British filmmaker has had experience working on similar projects on a large scale and scope with a massive appeal. He directed Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016), Monsters (2010), and Godzilla (2014) before taking over the responsibility of steering the Jurassic Park franchise in a new direction.
The Rebirth trailer promises a visually striking summer blockbuster that can be as cinematic as his past work, as well as the works of Steven Spielberg. So, Edwards once spoke about Spielberg's inspiration for his installment.
"When I read the script, it felt like a love letter to Spielberg. I've always wanted to shoot on film; I really wanted Jurassic World Rebirth to have that naturalistic, cinematic quality ... It will have a lot of humor, and it will be fun, but it also has a lot of very scary, very intense moments," he said.
Scarlett Johansson called Jurassic World Rebirth a love letter to Steven Spielberg's craft.

During the London premiere of Jurassic World Rebirth, Scarlett Johansson spoke about Spielberg's impact on the film, and she had nothing but praise for the iconic filmmaker. She said,
“So I think it really is a love letter to Steven’s work. Fans of the Jurassic universe can expect to really feel the DNA of the original Jurassic Park in this film.”
Previously, the Jurassic World Rebirth star told ComicBook.com that she has been a big fan of the franchise.
“It’s one of the first films I remember seeing in the theatre. I remember seeing it so vividly. It was life-changing. It was mind-blowing. I cannot express how excited I am. The script is so incredible. David Koepp wrote it. He returned after like 30 years to write the script. He’s so passionate about it, which is so awesome. “I have been trying to get into this franchise in any possible way for over 10 years. I’m like, ‘I’ll die in the first five minutes! I can get eaten by whatever! I’ll do the craft service!’ I’ll do anything for it.”
Jurassic World Rebirth will arrive in theaters on July 2, 2025.
