K-Pop Demon Hunters bags 4 Grammy Nominations, features revealed

K-Pop Demon Hunters has not only won hearts in terms of its storytelling, but also for its captivating music as well. As reported, the animated musical film has bagged a number of four nominations at the upcoming 68th Annual Grammy Awards.

In fact, the iconic single number by Huntr/x, "Golden", has been nominated as 'Song of the Year'. The song was performed by Ejae, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami, who sang as Rumi, Mira and Zoey.

Helmed by Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, this film follows the plot of a group of three popular K-Pop singers who are alternating between their scintillating music career as well as saving humanity from the hands of demons. The film is noted for its deep cultural significance, and it went on to become a celebrated pop culture phenomenon.

Here are all the Grammy nominations received by K-Pop Demon Hunters

K-Pop Demon Hunters have swept four Grammy nominations in total. The categories for which the film has been nominated include:

  • Song of the Year
  • Best Song Written for Visual Media
  • Best Pop Duo/Group Performance
  • Best Remixed Recording

Huntr/x song "Golden" has been nominated in these categories. This has indeed been the song of the year in public memory, as it smashed all the charts and made its way to top the Billboard Global 200 for eleven weeks. Music critics and the audience have collectively hailed praise for this song, and the overall soundtrack of the film. The song has been penned by Ejae, DO, Mark Sonnenblick, Teddy and 24.

It is the second single of the album, and it also holds an incredible importance in the storyline, as the Huntr/x girls sing this song in order to activate the Honmoon. The song also explores Rumi's inner turmoil about her actual identity. The soundtrack of K-Pop Demon Hunters has been produced by 24, Teddy Park, Jenna Andrews, Dominsuk, Ido, Lindgren and Stephen Kirk.

As reported by Netflix, the executive producer of the film's music, Ian Eisendrath, have elucidated the artistic vision behind the song. He mentioned by stating:

“When they do that, the Honmoon — which is sort of the power that watches over us and symbolized as a big circular moon — will turn gold. When that happens, their job is done. In a traditional film musical structure, this is the ‘I want’ song. The whole point is, ‘It’s all going to be golden. We want to fulfill our destiny.’”

The song's remixed version, which was created by David Guetta, has also been nominated under the category of 'Best Remixed Recording'.

In total, the original soundtrack of K-Pop Demon Hunters consists of nine songs. Apart from 'Golden', here are the rest of the tracks:

The trio — Ejae, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami have expressed their feelings about the Grammy nominations to Variety. Nuna, in a conversation with the outlet, talked about the immense cultural impact this holds, as she stated:

“You’re going to see three Korean faces. To think about the kids who are going to see that, and hopefully for that to shape their understanding of what they can do in this world, is the stuff that is giving me chills up my spine.”
