The Twilight Saga will be back in theaters this October, which means fans will get another chance to meet Bella Swan, Edward Cullen, and Jacob Black, to experience their love triangle all over again.
The franchise, based on Stephenie Meyer's novels, began with the 2008 film, Twilight, and returned with four sequels titled New Moon, Eclipse, Breaking Dawn - Part 1, and Part 2. Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner may have grown distant from the franchise but devoted fans have not, even over a decade later.
That's why Lionsgate has decided to bring The Twilight Saga back to the big screens. According to The Hollywood Reporter (THR), the five films will return to theaters from October 29 to November 2, with one film being shown each day. Fathom Entertainment has organized this event on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the publication of Twilight, the first book of Stephenie Meyer's fan-favorite novel series on which the films are based.
In addition to the screenings, fans can also witness a 10-minute roundtable panel before each screening. Stephenie Meyer will be a part of these discussions with Gillian Bohrer, Erik Feig, Karen Rosenfelt, and Wyck Godfrey, on behalf of Lionsgate.
The Twilight Saga fans will be able to experience the films in another special way, and THR has offered an insight into how that will be available in the coming months.
The Twilight Saga soundtracks will be a part of the franchise's upcoming re-release plan
According to THR, the soundtracks of the first three Twilight films will be released again by Warner Music Group, and will be available on October 31. Shortly after, fans will be able to experience Twilight in Concert, a national tour of music, which will reportedly cover more than 60 cities in the United States, and take place between September 12 and November 30.
While fans would be excited to go on tour, they might be looking forward to watching these movies again on the big screen. Hence, upon the announcement of the saga's re-release, Fathom Entertainment CEO, Ray Nutt, shared a heartfelt statement. As per THR, it reads,
“Twilight fans are some of the most passionate anywhere, making this iconic movie franchise the epitome of a modern-day classic, which Fathom Entertainment is thrilled to help bring back to the big screen in this special cinematic engagement."
He added,
"With our partners at Lionsgate, we celebrate 20 years since Stephenie Meyer’s first Twilight book was published and encourage fans to relish The Twilight Saga.”
The Twilight Saga is slated to receive an animated treatment from Netflix
In April 2023, THR reported that the vampire horror saga based on Stephenie Meyer’s best-selling book series would return in the form of a series, but there were no concrete updates available about the scope of the project or its production details.
Later, in September 2024, the publication reported that Netflix is working on an animated project based on Twilight's companion books, Midnight Sun. They follow the story from Edward Cullen's perspective instead of Bella Swan's, as seen in the movie.
More details on these projects are expected soon.
