André Holland is making his big-screen return this month with the upcoming drama film Love, Brooklyn, as Greenwich Entertainment holds distribution rights in the United States. Rachael Abigail Holde is at the helm of the project, which is also her filmmaking debut, and Paul Zimmerman has worked on the screenplay.

Love, Brooklyn is the story of three individuals from Brooklyn and their dramatic journey of life right at the heart of New York. Award-winning filmmaker Steven Andrew Soderbergh has executive-produced the movie, which currently holds 78% on Rotten Tomatoes in terms of critic reviews. The official synopsis of Love, Brooklyn, per IMDb reads:

"Three longtime Brooklynites navigate careers, love, loss, and friendship against the rapidly changing landscape of their beloved city."

When will Love, Brooklyn be released?

Love, Brooklyn is set for a theatrical premiere in the United States on August 29, 2025. The movie had its early screening back in January at the Sundance Film Festival, and following its limited theatrical release, Love, Brooklyn will reportedly reach different video on-demand services. The upcoming drama film also shares its premiere date with Matt Smith's crime comedy Caught Stealing.


What do we know about the plot of Love, Brooklyn?

The plot of Love, Brooklyn revolves around two women and one man whose dramatic lives are entwined in ways with the challenges of an evolving city life. The story unravels with its focus on a struggling writer named Roger (played by André Holland) who seems to have not found his big break so far.

Roger is a really creative person, and the commercial domination in the industry is what's holding him back from fitting in. He is also under a lot of pressure with his current mundane job and keeps pushing things for later. Betwixed by his tumultuous career, Roger reunites with his ex-girlfriend Casey, who is also burdened by the volatile business of her art gallery.

Putting their past behind them, Casey and Roger try to stay connected as friends while the latter comes across a widowed mother named Nicole, and the two soon get romantically involved. However, things are not that easy for them, as Nicole is scared of commitment and is clearly not ready to be in a relationship yet.

As the two go for a slow and steady start, Casey and Roger try not to revisit their feelings for each other, but it seems like their friendship is turning out to be difficult to deal with. Standing at the vertices of a weird love triangle, Nicole, Casey, and Roger try to balance their work and personal lives in this contemporary world drama.


Who is in the cast of Love, Brooklyn?

André Holland, well recognized for his part in the 2016 Oscar-winning Moonlight, has played the role of Roger, an aspiring writer who seems to be struggling with the creative industry's rampant commercialization. Nicole Beharie has played the part of Casey, a young businessman who runs an art gallery and is also the old love interest of Roger.

DeWanda Wise has been cast as a widowed woman named Nicole who gets into a volatile relationship with Roger. Among others in the cast of Love, Brooklyn, we have:
