KPop Demon Hunters was released on Netflix a couple of months ago, and now its sing-along version, which has garnered $18 million at the box office, is set to drop on the streaming platform, per The Hollywood Reporter. This version got a limited theatrical release on August 23, 2025, and despite the fact that fans had watched the film already, they flocked to theaters.

The film is directed by Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, and the former's desire to make a story that is drawn from her Korean heritage brought KPop Demon Hunters to life. Before this, Maggie had worked on films like Puss in Boots (2011), Kung Fu Panda 3 (2016), The Lego Ninjago Movie (2017), and more. For Appelhans, this is his second directorial, the first being Wish Dragon in 2021.

The Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans film is about a K-pop girl band leading a double life as demon huntresses. They are up against a similar group of boys, who are demons.

While the film was a success, its music was praised worldwide too, making its way to the top 10 lists of several music streaming charts. It debuted at number eight on the Billboard 200 chart, becoming the first soundtrack to make it to the top 10 this year.
