Actor Alec Baldwin and his wife, Hilaria Baldwin have countered their critics with a hilarious skit. On June 1, the celebrity couple took to Instagram to post a video of Hilaria controlling Alec comically through marionette strings.

As per People Magazine, the Baldwin couple was responding to a meme which trolled them by creating a sketch involving Hilaria dressed in bright green, and moving puppet strings attached to Alec. The meme suggested that Hilaria has an undue amount of control on Alec.

The couple chose to respond to the meme’s suggestions with a hysterically funny skit. In the video posted to Instagram, the camera first focuses on Alec, who does a great impression of a cartoon character. Slowly zooming out, the camera reveals that Alec is being controlled by strings attached to wooden spoons being maneuvered by Hilaria, perched high on a chair and dressed in bright green, just like the meme. While directing fun at the meme, Hilaria Baldwin wrote,

"Well, you guys gave me the idea. I just HAD to try it out”

Hilaria Baldwin on Alec Baldwin’s health struggles in wake of the Rust shooting incident

While the internet seems to suggest Hilaria Baldwin has an undue control over her husband, the author and yoga instructor recently opened up about the pressures the couple faced in wake of the shooting incident on the set of Alec’s film, Rust.

In 2022, Alec Baldwin used a prop weapon that accidentally went off on the set of the film, Rust, killing the cinematographer, Halyna Hutchins. As per The New York Times, live rounds were accidentally loaded into the gun which was then used by Alec, although the actor denied that he pulled the trigger of the gun on set. The publication also noted that the case against Alec was dismissed on account of withheld evidence in summer 2024.

Recently, Hilaria Baldwin opened up about the toll the incident took on her family. During an appearance on the podcast, Two Ts in a Pod With Teddi Mellencamp and Tamra Judge, Hilaria noted that Alec went back to the set after the tragedy to finish his work despite his health struggles.

Sharing that she remained mum about the incident, only sharing it much later in her book, Manual Not Included, she said,

β€œIt was a really hard thing that he went back and did. I talk about it in my book that he almost died right before that and I kept that quiet.”

Providing insight into the actor’s mental and emotional health, Hilaria said,

β€œWith the pressure and the stress and everything that was happening on top of how just awful this tragedy was and is, he just started turning off, stopped eating, the stress. I brought him to the hospital multiple times. And then he started really declining.”

Continuing, Hilaria shared during the podcast,

β€œI brought him to the hospital and he passed out on me on Fifth Avenue and 101st Street, right in front of Mount Sinai, right in front of the hospital. And he was in the hospital for, I don't know, I think like a week.”

Hilaria also revealed that she hid Alec’s condition from the media and the public because she didn’t want the public to think he was trying to gain sympathy in wake of the Rust shooting incident. She told Mellencamp and Judge,

β€œAnd when I brought him out of the hospital, I actually put a, he was walking with a walker because he couldn't walk. And I put a boot on his leg and to pretend that he had hurt his leg, because I didn't want people to say that he was…he was faking it. That was one thing I couldn't do.”

Hilaria Baldwin went on to share that the public’s tendency to speculate unnecessarily prompted her to hide the fact that Alec was not doing well.
