Brittany Renner has given fans another glimpse into her post-divorce life by posting a picture of herself dressed in a black sleeveless outfit. She had posted a photo of herself flaunting her cornrows just a couple of days earlier, for which she had caught a lot of flak on social media.
Brittany's social media post was accompanied by a caption that read as follows:
"I don’t ask for permission or forgiveness, nor am I in the business of convincing."
In her last Instagram post, Renner had made it clear that she wanted to carve her own path and had made it clear that she was no longer tied to anyone by "blind loyalty." The post was interpreted as a slight on ex-husband Kevin by many fans online, especially after their marriage was brought to a premature end after 52 days.
Brittany Renner and Kevin Gates' divorce
Brittany Renner's recent social media activities suggest that she has shed her hijab, which she sported during the entirety of her marriage to rapper Kevin Gates. She had earlier changed religion and joined Islam last year, and this had led many users on social media to doubt the seriousness of her conversion.
Brittany explained in an interview with PEOPLE that she had long been considering changing religion to Islam.
"Allah put Islam on my heart five, six years ago. But I was not ready to accept it. Right? So it took five, six years and once I got the call to take my Shahada, I just listened. I felt like if I had not taken my Shahada, I was gonna go down a really dark road. So Islam has made my life better in every single category. Miracles happen once in a while, every day, you know?” she says of her religion. “So it has been really beautiful. It's changed my life. It's for the better."
Even after her repeated statements, doubts still persist among social media users about the validity of her claims. The past few months have brought intense media attention to Brittany, who recently got divorced from Kevin Gates, as their 52-day marriage was brought to an end.
Brittany Renner announced her parting of ways with Kevin Gates in an interview with REAL 92.3 LA, in which she said:
"We got married April 6 and divorced May 28. But there is a 90-day waiting period in Islam to see if you’re pregnant, because then he would be responsible. And then also in those 90 days, it’s for reconciliation because Allah wants you stay married, and during those 90 days you are not to entertain anybody romantically."
She then went on to add:
"What I will say is Islam has made my life a lot easier. I think even with this transition and things changing. I don’t think anybody gets married to not stay married, so my biggest thing for me is a nice 90-day reset just focusing on myself and pouring into myself."
Even after her divorce from Kevin Gates, Brittany Renner has declared her intentions to continue practicing Islam.
