According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jake Szymanski is helming Bad Day and the upcoming movie has also received the tag of a comedic reimagining of Michael Douglas' 1993 crime drama, Falling Down. Per reports, the story revolves around a single mother whose life has totally been derailed under certain (unspecified yet) circumstances.

However, she is fighting against all odds to fullful one promise that she has made to her beloved daughter. But so far, the names of all the characters are being kept under wraps. Cameron Diaz has done notable work over the years in multiple projects namely The Mask, There's Something About Mary, Vanilla Sky, the Shrek franchise, The Holiday and S*x Tape. Moreover, her performance in the 2000 action comedy Charlie's Angels alongside rom-com legend Drew Barrymore is something that resonates among the audience till date.

Diaz has also worked in collaboration with Academy Award winner Leonardo DiCaprio in the 2002 historical drama Gangs of New York. She played the role of a woman named Jenny Everdeane, a romantic interest of the protagonist "Amsterdam" Vallon, portrayed by DiCaprio.

Now Netflix's latest announcement Bad Day looks quite promising in keeping Diaz's comedic streak alive. With production set to kick off this fall, a 2026 release window does look feasible but nothing has been confirmed so far.
