Stranger Things has finally come to a close. Before closing the series, Noah Schnapp suggested a specific scene between Will and Mike as a form of "closure" for fans. He had a conversation with Duffer Brothers about how to address the questions fans would have about the friendship between his character Will Byers and Mike Wheeler (Finn Wolfhard).

In an exclusive interview with People, he shared that it was:

"... nice to have that trust from [Matt and Ross Duffer]... If something doesn't work, or if something feels not right, you can speak to them, and they will work with you."

He added that the last conversation between Mike and Will felt:

"... completely closed and satisfying... I think the fans will be happy."

Why did Noah Schnapp feel the show was incomplete with the "conversation" between Will Byers and Mike Wheeler?

Noah Schnapp talked about how things felt incomplete after Episode 7 in the final season of Stranger Things. A quick recap: Will Byers decided to come out as gay to his friends before their final battle against Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower). This confirmed a suspicion fans had right from Season 4 of the show, that Will had feelings for Mike.

In the episode, Will told his friends:

"I had this crush on someone even though I know, I know they’re not like me, but then I realized, he’s just my Tammy."

However, that did not feel enough for Shnapp. He elaborated:

"I did feel there was a little bit left unsaid with [episode 7]. And I did actually speak to the Duffers, and they included a scene in the finale that wasn't originally there to kind of close that story properly."

The Duffer Brothers agreed to Noah Schnapp's suggestion. The scene happens when the group of friends climbs the radio tower to get to the Abyss. As they were climbing, Mike was trying to apologize to Will for being "self-absorbed." However, Will responded by saying:

"It needed to happen the way it happened. I needed to find my own way."

The duo then decided to be "best friends," which removed any fear from Will that his confession would change their dynamics.

What did the Duffer Brothers say about Will Byers' coming-out scene?

In a conversation with PEOPLE, Ross Duffer referred to the scene and said:

"That was the intent... Once Will is talking about Tammy and all that and his experience, yeah, it's Mike — and his friends — all realizing and understanding now for the first time, even if Mike has been somewhat oblivious over these years, what his friend is saying."

He added:

"He's clocking what Will felt over the years... It's about Will understanding who he is and being less fearful and expressing himself to all his friends and family."

Right before the final episode of Stranger Things, Noah Schnapp felt that Will Byers and Mike Wheeler had to have a conversation about their friendship after his confession. He suggested it to the Duffer Brothers, who made the changes to the show. As the show closes, Schnapp says that he hopes fans are happy with how the show ended.
