The Elixir is a zombie horror film from Indonesia that premiered on Netflix on October 23, 2025. Originally called Abadi Nan Jaya, it is helmed by Kimo Stamboel, who has also written the screenplay with Agasyah Karim and Khalid Kashogi. It is produced by Edwin Nazir and Marinelza. A dysfunctional family running a renowned herbal medicine business. The owner of the company attempts to innovate by creating a new potion, which ends up triggering a zombie outbreak.

How does The Elixir end?

Towards the end of The Elixir, Bambang, Rahman, and Kennes fire crackers at the police station where they are trapped. This scares away the zombies for a moment. However, the zombies soon start marching towards them. Luckily, it rains, which confuses the zombies. All the ladies move in a truck to find Bambang and Rahman.

Later on, the two are bitten by the zombies. But Bambang decides to light all the leftover fireworks, which burn all the undead. Everyone eventually reunites, but Kennes realizes that they have been bitten. As Karina and Raihan leave the area, Kennes decides to distract all the zombies. Kennes eventually dies. The film ends with the Sadimin family members who are taking the herbal medicines.

Will there be a sequel to The Elixir?

The Elixir ends on an ambiguous note as the outbreak overtakes the region. While the protagonists survive, the outbreaks continue. The last scene establishes that the herbal medicine's reach is far-reaching, suggesting that more and more people will get infected in a short span of time. The Sadimins will be among the first new people to become zombies.

Kennes and others manage to kill all the zombies, but the medicine will keep the outbreak going. While the ending has potential for a sequel, there is no official confirmation from the makers. If a sequel happens, it can focus on the second wave of the outbreak, and the makers can show that it has crossed borders. We could get a zombie movie where the problem has gone global.
