Former TV host David Letterman has made it very clear that he will be standing beside his friend Seth Meyers as the President calls to get him fired.

In a new episode of The Barbara Gaines Show, David Letterman, who hosted NBC’s Late Night from 1982 to 1993, expressed,

"The president of the United States now wants to fire Seth Meyers. And I thought, 'this is just delightful'. How do you think that’s going to go? So anyway, I’ve never been more proud of Seth Meyers. That’s our old show, as a matter of fact. Yeah, we used to do that show, and he does a magical job.”

While speaking about the president's behaviour, ever since he was sworn in, David Letterman added,

“It’s like 18 times the worst behavior one has witnessed ever anywhere. Think of the worst thing that you’ve ever seen humans accomplish. This is so much worse.”

Using phrases such as “just a wonder of idiocy” and “our dictator” in reference to Trump, adding,

“If anyone dares to say anything less than glowing, Trump loses his s**t.”

This is however, not the first time David Letterman has been critical of the president, as in a 2019 interview with The Hollywood Reporter‘s Awards Chatter podcast, David had described him as,

"the b**b of New York that pretended to be wealthy, or we thought was wealthy, and now he’s just a psychotic. Is that putting too fine a point on it?”

Trump calls to fire Seth Meyers

Trump has been going after TV show hosts left and right, starting with Jimmy Kimmel in September, and now his latest target is Seth Meyers. After being a victim of Meyers' monologue, he posted on his social media platform, Truth Social,

“NBC’s Seth Meyers is suffering from an incurable case of Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS). He was viewed last night in an uncontrollable rage, likely due to the fact that his ‘show’ is a Ratings DISASTER. Aside from everything else, Meyers has no talent, and NBC should fire him, IMMEDIATELY!”

This post was then reposted by FCC chair Brendan Carr.

However, Meyers was unfazed and gave a simple reply in his November 17 monologue,

"I was simply on the same s--- list as Christopher Wray, James Comey, Indiana Republicans, Thomas Massie, Rand Paul, Marjorie Taylor Greene and former President Joe Biden.
Adding, “I wanna clarify that I take no issue with the president voicing his displeasure with my show. That is his right and, on a lot of nights, he’s got a point."

This is also not the first time President Trump has gone after the former SNL member.
