In the latest updates to the case, Jaylen Brown's father is being defended by his lawyer, Arnold Weinstock. In a courtroom session held on August 21, Weinstock said that Brown was acting out of self-defense after Tupuola pistol-whipped the basketballer's father. The incident happened on Wednesday in a parking lot in Las Vegas.
In Arnold Weinstock's words:
"Everything I know and I've known Mr. Brown for quite some time, I do not believe that he initiated anything, and he is telling me that everything that occurred was him trying to defend himself after he was struck."
The documents received by the court revealed that Marselles Brown and Cross Tupuola initially got into a verbal fight, which later escalated to an actual fight after the former challenged the latter. Tupuola suffered multiple stab wounds and is currently in the hospital. However, the court documents did not mention any gun.
