Coldplay frontman Chris Martin appeared to subtly reference the recent stir caused by viral concert footage of Astronomer CEO Andy Byron during the band’s latest stop in Wisconsin. While Martin didn’t name names or directly address the incident, his lighthearted remarks during the Madison performance at Camp Randall Stadium struck a few chords.

As per Us Weekly, Chris Martin told concertgoers, as the Music of the Spheres Tour continued, that they might find themselves unexpectedly featured on the big screen as cameras moved through the crowd.

“Please, if you haven’t done your makeup, do your makeup now!” he joked.

Chris Martin reacts in real time as the kiss cam catches Andy Byron and Kristin Cabot:

Andy Byron might have been hoping for a quiet night out, but Coldplay’s kiss cam had other plans. According to several reports, the Astronomer CEO, who is said to be married to Megan Kerrigan Byron, was seen on screen cozying up to Kristin Cabot, the company’s employee. The two looked surprised as their image appeared on the jumbotron and quickly ducked out of view.

Chris Martin, ever the improviser, tried to smooth over the moment in front of the live audience.

“Whoa, look at these two. Alright, come on. You’re OK! Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy. I’m not quite sure what to do,” he said.

With a hint of regret, he added,

“Holy s***. I hope we didn’t do something bad.”

As the camera continued scanning the crowd, Chris Martin turned his attention to another couple, asking if they were “a legitimate couple.” The Byron-Cabot moment didn’t stay confined to the stadium for long. A fan filmed the interaction and shared it online, where it quickly gained traction and triggered a wave of reactions.

Andy Byron has resigned as CEO of Astronomer following a viral kiss cam moment at a Coldplay concert that triggered public scrutiny and internal concerns over company conduct.

“Andy Byron has tendered his resignation, and the Board of Directors has accepted,” Astronomer told E! News. The board cited a failure to meet “the company’s standards of conduct” and confirmed that cofounder Pete DeJoy will continue as interim CEO during the search for Byron’s successor.

Just days after the July 16 Foxborough concert, the company issued a statement via X, reinforcing its position:

“Astronomer is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding. Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability.”

The board has since launched a formal investigation, adding,

“we will have additional details to share very shortly.”

The company also cleared speculation surrounding the alleged involvement of other employees in the incident:

“Alyssa Stoddard was not at the event and no other employees were in the video. Andy Byron has not put out any statement, reports saying otherwise are all incorrect.”

The jumbotron moment quickly became a viral sensation, drawing millions of views across social media platforms and prompting reactions from several high-profile names, including Chrissy Teigen, Bethenny Frankel, and Katie Nolan, to mention a few.
