As the fashion industry prepares for the 2025 Met Gala, new headlines suggest that British supermodel Naomi Campbell is reportedly being cast out of the star-studded affair.
According to an E! News report, Campbell has reportedly also been banned from the annual fundraiser at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art, in part because of a rift with Met Gala host and reigning Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour.
It's speculated that the fallout between Campbell and Wintour started after the model made comments that were interpreted as disrespectful about Wintour, which allegedly led to Naomi Campbell’s removal from the guest list.
Naomi Campbell’s purported ban includes her alongside a list of celebrities who have been banned or are reportedly banned from the Met Gala, either due to disagreements with Wintour or due to their personal disapproval of the event.
U.S. President Donald Trump is one of the few who have had their ban confirmed. Wintour made the statement that Trump was the only person that she would not invite back during a 2017 interview on The Late Late Show with James Corden. The President held his last Met Gala in 2012 with his wife, Melania.
Fashion consultant and TV personality Tim Gunn also stated that he is blacklisted. Gunn, who said he was disinvited to the event in 2016, recalled a time when he made a comment on Anna Wintour, which led to a feud between the two.
"I was asked what is the most unforgettable thing I’ve ever seen in fashion and I said: ‘It’s easy. It was watching Anna Wintour being carried down five flights of stairs by two bodyguards,’... All hell broke loose. It was insane. We’ve had an open war ever since." He told E! News.
More celebrities who have been banned from Met Gala or don't plan to return due to personal reasons
Tina Fey was never banned from the Met Gala, but she announced that she would never return after publicly calling the ceremony a “jerk parade” during a 2015 appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman.
According to The Independent, the famous One Direction member, Zayn Malik, also spoke ill of the event after his appearance in 2016, denouncing it as self-indulgent and saying that he would rather stay at home and do something useful.
"I’d rather be sitting at my house doing something productive than dressing up in really expensive clothes and being photographed on a red carpet." He said.
Actress Lili Reinhart, who is known for her role on Riverdale, stated that she may have burned her chance to appear at future Galas after publicly bashing Kim Kardashian’s dramatic weight loss for her 2022 Met look.
According to the report, other celebrities like Demi Lovato, Gwyneth Paltrow, Amy Schumer, and Rachel Zoe had been kicked off the list at some point, largely because of their public statements.
