The reality TV stars Michael Todd (aka Todd) and Julie Chrisley received a presidential pardon on Tuesday, May 27, 2025. In a video shared on X by Trump’s special assistant and communications advisor, Margo Martin, he is heard talking to Savannah, the incarcerated couple’s daughter. The 47th US President, who called the 27-year-old to inform her about the pardon, said,

“Your parents are going to be free and clean. I hope we can do it by tomorrow. [...] I don't know them, but give them my regards and wish them good luck.”

After hearing the couple’s other kid, who thanked him for the pardon, Trump remarked,

“They were given a pretty harsh treatment based on what I’m hearing.”

The news of the presidential pardon has come a week after People reported that Lifetime has greenlit a brand-new reality TV series featuring the famous family. According to the magazine, the untitled project is slated for a 2025 release, almost two years after USA Network’s Chrisley Knows Best concluded after a 10-season run.

Savannah teased an untitled Chrisley project in February during a chat with People

Before the Lifetime TV series was confirmed, People reported in August 2023 that the family was working with Scout Productions for another project. The venture didn’t materialize. Savannah, who became caretaker of her siblings Grayson and Chloe after Julie and Todd’s imprisonment, told People in February,

“We were working with a production company, and things were going great. And then, there were some things that were done that I did not like.”

The Unlocked with Savannah Chrisley host added,

“I backed out. I stepped away, and I said, ‘I'm done. I am not working. I'm not getting myself in a situation I don't feel comfortable and safe in.’”

Savannah also teased an unannounced project during her February interview with People, stating that they (her family) were in talks with a “very well-known big production company.” She added,

“A network already said they want it. They want it on air [on] August 11th, which, ironically, is my birthday. So, we'll see.”

Savannah stated during the chat that the network (possibly Lifetime) was “working on schedules” at the time as they wanted to begin filming. Julie and Todd’s older daughter remarked,

“I mean, if it's going to be on air in August ... it's got to start happening quick. So, that's really honestly all that I know right now.”

As Savannah’s parents were still incarcerated at the time, the podcaster and reality TV star was still seemingly focused on getting them pardoned and had her “agents deal with the TV side of things.”

The new Chrisley project was set in the aftermath of Julie and Todd’s incarceration

Eventually, a reality TV series featuring the Chrisleys was greenlit during the second half of May. Per the official description, the show will follow the challenges faced in the aftermath of its matriarch and patriarch’s imprisonments. According to People, the official logline provided by Lifetime reads,

“The Chrisleys don’t know best anymore, but they’re doing their best to be there for each other. The family faces the challenge of carrying on the Chrisley name and legacy on their own with only phone calls and brief visits with their incarcerated parents.”

It continues,

“While Savannah maintains custody of her younger siblings, Chloe and Grayson, she has been fighting tirelessly for a Presidential pardon to free her parents. Meanwhile, Chase is addressing some life struggles while building his new business and navigating his relationship with girlfriend Jodi.”

Bunim/Murray is serving as the production company for the new series, with Chase and Savannah alongside Julie Pizzi, Farnaz Farjam, Jesse Daniels, and Rit Saraswat as the executive producers. Per People, Nicole Blais will be a co-executive producer, with Brie Miranda Bryant and Nicole Vogel also being executive producers (Lifetime).
