Netflix drops official trailer for its upcoming Christmas comedy, Merry Little Ex-Mas
A Merry Little Ex-Mas is gearing up for an exclusive Netflix premiere on November 12 and with the holiday mood brewing already, the plot fits the perfect Christmas comedy. Suffering from the tumult of a post-divorce phase, a middle-aged couple, Kate and Everett, try to bring their family together for one last holiday reunion; the obvious ocassion being Christmas.
However, the family drama gets an unexpected layer when Everett invites his newest love interest (who is also a successful young woman) to the party. Lead Alicia Silverstone has executive produced the upcoming project alongside star Melissa Joan Hart. Melissa's mother Paula Hart, has also worked in collaboration with her daughter.
According to Tudum, director Steve Carr has desribed Kate's holiday story saying:
"Like George in It’s a Wonderful Life, [when] something big happens to shake up your life, it changes your point of view, and you realize the life you have is the one you’re meant to have."
The newest trailer of A Merry Little Ex-Mas introduces good amount of comedy with British star Jameela Jamil stealing the show in the role of Everett's new girlfriend. Her introduction in the family Christmas makes things awkward at first for Everett, Kate and the kids but eventually adds comic relief amidst a tense holiday mood.
Moreover, the story gets even more complex when Kate's potential love interest (played by Pierson Fode) enters the scene dressed in Santa Claus's constume. Star Melissa Joan Hart, per Tudum, has spoken highly of the star-studded cast and she also wonders why her path has so far never cross with Alicia Silverstone until A Merry Little Ex-Mas happened. She says:
"It’s a mystery to me how Alicia and I have somehow never even met until now, considering we have so much and so many people in common."
