How did Nathan Fielder acquire a license to fly a commercial plan?
Fielder, who is known for setting up a wide variety of elaborate ruses as part of his show, The Rehearsal, recounted that he took 2 years to learn how to fly.

During the finale episode, Entertainment Weekly reports that Fielder said,
“When I first began this project, I had decided there was no better way to understand pilots than to become one myself. But it became clear very quickly that I was not a natural at this. Especially when it came to landing the plane.”
It took Fielder a considerable amount of time—120 hours instead of the usual 10 to 30 hours—before he was able to learn how to land the plane successfully. He stated,
“I was apparently such an abnormal case that they started passing me around to different instructors in an effort to diagnose what was going on with me.”
While Fielder did manage to get his license, Time Magazine noted that the actor was still not certified to fly as a commercial airline pilot. Fielder skirted the rules by acquiring a used Boeing plane, as per the magazine.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Fielder also made a comment about the medical certification process that pilots are required to undergo, in particular a pilot’s mental health certification, noting that pilots often do not disclose their complete medical reports in order to not lose their flying license.
