Hayley Atwell reveals why she had to apologize to Tom Cruise 

As per a recent article by Entertainment Weekly, Hayley Atwell had to apologize to her co-star Tom Cruise because of an embarrassing situation her French bulldogs caused.

The revelation was made on the recent episode of The Tonight Show, telecasted on May 22. Hayley Atwell appeared on the episode to promote her latest movie Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning.

Atwell revealed that she bought her French bulldogs to Cruise's place after he fondly asked her to. Hayley Atwell and Tom Cruise decided to watch movies together, to help Atwell understand film language better after she joined the franchise in 2023.

"He said, 'I hear you have dogs. You should bring them over.' And I thought, 'Well that's quite a good test of character,' because if a dog likes you, then you're a pretty solid guy, I think. They don't lie." Atwell revealed on the podcast.

The actress further revealed that Cruise approved the dogs and loved him. The French bulldogs grew fond of Cruise and decided to sit on him for the duration of the screening.

Hayley Atwell revealed everything was going smoothly initially before things turned awkward. Atwell looked at the audience and started by saying that French bulldogs can be "very potent farters" and her dogs were no exception.

"We're watching [the movie], and they were sitting on [Cruise], and they were farting on him the whole way through the movie," Atwell said. "And I'm sat there and I'm like, 'Oh my God.' And I'm looking around and there's some other people who are gagging."

Atwell further praised Cruise and said that he remained "discreet" and was extremely professional. Ignoring the incident, the two continued watching the movie. Atwell said that she felt embarrased and that she should apologize on behalf of her dogs.

"He's enjoying the movie and eating popcorn and at one point I thought, 'I've got to say something. I'm so embarrassed. There was a lull in the film and I just turned to him at one point and I went, 'Sorry for all the tootin'!" revealed the actress.

Atwell said that this made things even worse.

"He was like, 'Uhh, yeah,' and went back to the movie and I was like, 'That's more awkward than the farting!'" said Atwell

Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning is currently in theatres. In the movie, Atwell and Cruise reprise their roles of Grace (a professional thief) and the IMF agent, Ethan Hunt, respectively.
