Deion Sanders has officially been cured of cancer, according to his medical team. The announcement was made at a recently concluded news conference in Boulder, where the Colorado football coach detailed events from the diagnosis that eventually led to his recovery.

The conference broke into raptures of applause after Sanders' medical team announced the news, albeit after Deion jokingly teased them to do so. As per CNN, the Colorado head football coach was diagnosed with bladder cancer, which required immediate surgical intervention. Dr. Janet Kukreja broke the news of his recovery while addressing the media, where she stated:

"I am pleased to report that the results from the surgery are that he is cured from the cancer."

Deion Sanders' health issues

Deion Sanders has faced significant health challenges over the past few years and reportedly experienced blood clots in 2021. The serious complications that resulted from the clots required the amputation of two of his toes and even led to the ongoing vascular monitoring that ultimately discovered his cancer.

Sanders also went through surgery last year, which focused on improving his left leg mobility. The latest health complication that the head coach suffered had him worried, as he admitted later on in the press conference. Deion Sanders thanked the medical team for their efforts and shed light on the new perspective he has developed that was shaped by his health journey.

"It's been a tremendous journey. It's been tough. You have no idea how good God has been to me. When we hear that word [cancer], it's usually a life sentence attached to it, but not this time ... because God got me."

Sanders suffered several issues throughout his recovery, and the coach reportedly even lost approximately 25 pounds during this period. But the coach has not let circumstances bog him down, as he announced his intentions to continue his responsibilities at Colorado uninterrupted.

"I always knew I was going to coach again. I was always going to coach. It was never in my spirit, in my heart, that God wouldn’t allow me to coach again."

Deion Sanders has confirmed his intention to coach the Buffaloes in the upcoming season, though he humorously noted that he might need a “porta-potty on the sideline” moving forward. His ability to endure various health issues during his time as a coach shows his steely resolve and character when it comes to performing his duties at Colorado.

Sanders will now be hoping to better the previous season's 9-4 record in his third season at the helm.
