Rapper Jay Wayne Jenkins, aka Jeezy, shared an appreciation post for his Uber driver whose 10-hour drive helped him reach his show in Baltimore.
According to Billboard, the reason he had to take an Uber is that flights from Atlanta had to be cancelled due to harsh weather conditions. The rapper took a road journey with his driver during which their car broke down midway, and then he had to take an Uber.
In an Instagram post where he posed alongside the driver, Tanner, Jeezy explained how he got to his show. Sharing his experience with Tanner, he wrote:
“Ten hours later, we arrived in Baltimore just ten minutes before showtime! I told him he made a lot of people happy tonight! Gave him a Snowman Tee and told him he was my guest for the show tonight!”
Jeezy further wrote:
“Shout out to the real MVP, my Uber driver Tanner! Not all heroes wear capes!”
Jeezy wrote that his team told him a driver would take him to Baltimore. After driving for two hours, their car had a mishap, which damaged the gas tank. His team tried to book a jet to Baltimore, which was unsuccessful.
Then, they booked an Uber to go to the airport and rent a car. Jeezy then told the Uber driver they needed to go to Baltimore. He asked about the cost of the journey and told Tanner that he need not worry about the fare.
What did Jeezy say while discussing his memoir in 2023?
In 2023, Jeezy published a book, Adversity for Sale: Ya Gotta Believe. The same year, he sat down with Rosemarie Miller of Forbes, who asked him about his motivation to write the memoir.
Jeezy said he had already been sharing his story through music for many years and had been on a personal healing journey for about eight years. He said:
“It's all in the book. From trauma to depression to the PTSD to anxiety to trust issues, you know, the same typical coming from the ghetto, you know, trying to figure your life out getting burnt all along the way, you know, having to learn by trial and error.”
He continued:
“It just does something to you but as I began to get into my success I just had to learn I was just wondering why I was never happy about what was going on with me right or why I wasn't enjoying it. It just seemed like a burden it seemed like all the things that were mine that I had accumulated that I could lose it many days.”
Jenkins remembered that a mentor had once given him a book called Think and Grow Rich, which changed his outlook. Since he had started learning so much from books, he felt it was important to give back by sharing his lessons in book form. He realized this would let people understand his life and message in a new way.
