Actor Jamie Foxx is singing praise for Deion Sanders’ son, Shedeur Sanders. The football quarterback made his preseason debut on August 8.

The Back in Action actor shared a few clips from Friday’s match on Instagram. In one of the posts, where he shared a self-recorded video while showing a clip of the game on his TV screen, Foxx said,

“I hear what all y’all saying. My name is Willie. Willie be mine. Hey, he the real deal. Hey, now how y’all feel now? How y’all feel now? No matter what you do, how you feel now? That man playing for his daddy.”

Jamie Foxx said that anyone who disliked Shedeur Sanders probably didn’t like football. He felt Shedeur was great, praised Deion Sanders as a legend, and said it was exciting to see his son doing so well. He captioned the video,

“Proud father moment!!! so happy for you @shedeursanders @deionsanders no better feeling in the feeling of validation… hard work pays off.”

According to the Pantherswire, Dave Canales, coach for the Carolina Panthers, appreciated Sanders’ performance, saying,

“Very impressed. Extending plays when he had to, getting the ball out of his hand quickly. I thought he did a great job of not sitting there in the pocket to see what was gonna happen. He either took off and extended and made some plays with his legs or he got the ball out quickly to a check-down.”

Dave Canales said he had been impressed with how Shedeur Sanders played and how well he stayed out of trouble during the game.

What did Shedeur Sanders say about his preseason debut?

As seen in another video posted by Jamie Foxx, Deion Sanders said that his son was thankful and appreciative of the opportunity. In the video, Foxx asked how one could not be happy about it. Referring to Deion Sanders’ statement, he said:

“If you love football, you love this.”

Meanwhile, in a video posted on the NFL’s YouTube channel, Shedeur Sanders spoke about his preseason debut. He said he was grateful for the chance to play, happy to be part of a new team that felt like a family, and determined to help bring positive changes.

He felt those changes had already started, was excited to be on the field, and appreciated that everyone, especially the receivers, worked hard and believed in each other. When asked what he felt changed, Shedeur Sanders said:

“I would say just the energy, the energy around, I would say since I've been around, you know, the energy around like the Browns, you know, I just feel like overall, overall it was a different sport, you know? I feel like it was a spark. Even though it's a preseason game.”

Talking about the preseason game, Shedeur Sanders said that while many people don’t see those games as important, for him and his teammates, it felt as special as the Super Bowl. He explained that the team was like a family, and they played for each other, not just for themselves.

He said this meant avoiding selfish mistakes, focusing on the right plays, and making sure everyone did their job so they could trust and believe in one another.
