Days before the NFL playoffs, Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs faces multiple criminal charges stemming from an alleged altercation in Massachusetts.
Stefon Diggs is charged with felony strangulation or suffocation and misdemeanor assault and battery. The news comes after reports revealed on Tuesday, Dec. 30, that the NFL star allegedly slapped his private chef, Mila Adams, and choked her until "she had trouble breathing."
Adams informed the authorities on Dec. 2 that she and Stefon Diggs had been texting about money that Diggs allegedly owes her. Per the Dedham Police Department, she also details that their quarrel turned violent when Diggs "entered her unlocked bedroom" at his home outside Boston.
"She alleges that the male then smacked her across the face."

She adds that Stefon Diggs "tried to choke her using the crook of his elbow around her neck." The report claims:
"She said that he was behind her with his arm wrapped around her. She said that she did feel like she had trouble breathing and that she felt like she could have blacked out."
Further, the athlete allegedly hurled her on a bed and said "lies" when she told her she hadn't received payment. Then he walked out.
However, Diggs' lawyer, David Meier, stated in a press release that the NFL star "categorically denies these allegations."
"The timing and motivation for making the allegations is crystal clear: they are the direct result of an employee-employer financial dispute that was not resolved to the employee's satisfaction. Stefon looks forward to establishing the truth in a court of law."
Meier described the allegations as uncorroborated and unsubstantiated.

Meanwhile, Stefon Diggs' team, the Patriots, expressed their support for their wide receiver, saying:
"We support Stefon."
A court arraignment is set on January 23.
Cardi B responds to breakup rumors after Stefon Diggs spends Christmas with other children
The news comes after Cardi B, Stefon Diggs' girlfriend, addressed the breakup speculations that had been surrounding the couple.
On Dec. 30, the rapper took to her X/Twitter to respond to the rumors after it was revealed that the Patriots star spent his Christmas with his other children.
"Y'all need to calm down. Y'all need to calm down. Is that cool? Ya've been dragging me for three or four days. Y'all have been a little bit too mean. Like, alright, now y'all are being a little bit too mean."

Cardi B and Stefon Diggs have been dating since roughly October last year and welcomed their first child, a son, in November. However, with the reports stating that Diggs spent the 25th with his two other kids, breakup rumors began to swirl. But the rapper wasn't having it.
"I can't change. I can't change sh*t. I can't go back in time. All right, I'm saying I already had a baby. Y'all want me to put my baby back in my p***y, huh? I don't know what y'all want me to do. Y'all want me to leave my man and f**k yours? You want me to leave my man and just go and f**k yours? I don't know… what y'all want me to do? What y'all want me to do? We can only go forward now. So I don't know."
Cardi B has four children, three of whom she shares with estranged husband Offset.
Stefon Diggs, on the other hand, has six: a daughter he shares with former girlfriend Kennedy Moore, a daughter with Tyler-Marie, a son with ex K'yanna Barber, a daughter with Cayy Benji, a daughter with Aileen Lopera, and a son with Cardi B.
