Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence were the recent guests on Variety’s “Actors on Actors.” Among a plethora of questions, Lawrence asked DiCaprio if he rewatched Titanic. The actor replied with a straight no. She suggested that he should rewatch the movie. However, DiCaprio was not in favor of the same. He said:

“I haven't seen it in forever.”

Jennifer Lawrence said:

“I bet you could like watch it as a movie now. And it's so good.”

DiCaprio said:

“I don't really watch, maybe I do, some movies I've watched. Do you watch your old, your movies a lot?”

She replied:

“No, I've never made something like ‘Titanic.’ But if I did I would watch it.”

The actor opined that he didn’t watch his own films. According to Celebrity Net Worth, Leonardo DiCaprio’s base salary in Titanic was $2.5 million. After negotiations, a 1.8% gross revenue was decided to be given to the actor. As a result, he eventually ended up earning $40 million from the movie.

In 2023, Titanic director James Cameron reflected on choosing Kate Winslet and DiCaprio for the movie. He said he was sceptical about casting Winslet because she had experience in historical dramas. However, when he met her, he realized that she was serious about working in the film. Speaking about Leonardo DiCaprio, Cameron said:

“Leo we had to pursue a little bit. He didn’t kind of see how challenging the part was.”

He said when Leo saw the challenge his role came with, he got excited.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence talk about One Battle After Another

During the conversation, Jennifer Lawrence complimented Leonardo DiCaprio’s role in One Battle After Another. She called him a “really great actor,” and his role in the movie was his greatest performance she had ever seen. Jennifer Lawrence went on to say:

“And what struck me just as somebody cause I know you and I thought this character was so, it was like the rawest I've ever seen you, but you were also really warm. And Bob reminded me, not in like personality, but I guess in like values of your dad. And I know your parents were like very counterculture.”

Speaking about his role and director Paul Thomas Anderson’s work in the movie, Leonardo DiCaprio said:

“I think it was very personal for Paul. He'd been writing it for 15-20 years and it was very pertinent to today, very topical. But yeah, it was, you know, it was based on violent but he made his own rendition of all of it.”

Leonardo DiCaprio explained that the movie focused on a man who used to be a revolutionary but later struggled to fit into modern life and connect with his daughter, an idea the director had been thinking about for a long time.

He also said that while his own parents were part of the hippie culture, including his dad spending time with famous activists, the characters in the film were shown as much more extreme revolutionaries.
