Former Disney Channel star Skai Jackson has recently made headlines, but not for the right reasons. On May 12, 2025, Jackson filed for a restraining order against her boyfriend and the father of her child, Deondre Burgin, after he allegedly assaulted her on Mother’s Day.

According to an exclusive report by TMZ, a temporary domestic violence restraining order has been issued by the court, and the next hearing will take place on June 9 in Los Angeles.

Skai, 23, has stated that she met Burgin, who goes by “Yerkky Yerkky” on social media, while he was in prison. Reports suggest that the couple first started talking while he was in jail, and struck up a relationship via letters and visits.

She even apparently helped bail him out at one time. Their relationship quickly escalated, and by December 2023, Skai had gone public with their relationship, calling him her boyfriend in a since-deleted post.

In January 2025, the duo welcomed their son, Kasai. Burgin was serving a 90-day jail sentence for a parole violation when the baby was born, following his arrest in November 2024 (TMZ). But even after his European legal problems, Skai Jackson had supposedly stood by him.

But eventually, the romance was caught up in controversies and ended badly. According to court papers, Burgin has been accused of abusing Jackson over a long period.

According to TMZ, some of the more disturbing allegations include claims of physical assault, including slamming her head into the window of her car while she was holding their infant, choking her to the point of not being able to breathe, and threatening her with a knife to drink bleach to kill the fetus.

She also claims personal property, including phones and a television, was damaged. Jackson’s restraining order has requested that Burgin not come within 100 yards of her, their son, and her pet dog. She also wants him to participate in a domestic violence counseling program, and is requesting legal child support and compensation for her legal fees.

Burgin has continued to be active on social media during the relationship, sharing numerous pictures of Skai Jackson and their child. But some of his actions have raised concerns from fans. In one widely circulated video, he made derogatory remarks about Skai’s late co-star Cameron Boyce and was criticized online.
