Dez Bryant, who recently engaged in a verbal spar with Nicki Minaj after the latter tweeted saying she would expose Roc Nation, had seemingly apologized or at least tweeted to placate the "Side to Side" singer. However, despite his tweet expressing his admiration for Nicki Minaj, the two have continued with their online war of words. He previously tweeted:
"I’m a huge fan”
According to the New York Post, the controversy began when Dez Bryant posted a tweet responding to the comments by Jerry Jones, the owner of the Dallas Cowboys team. In his statement, Jerry Jones expressed his disapproval of having agents present during contract negotiations, a comment that has emerged because of Micah Parsons' request for transfer. Jerry Jones referenced the name of Dez Bryant and Roc Nation as an example to back his stance against involving agents.
More about the verbal confrontation between Dez Bryant and Nicki Minaj on Twitter, as the former NFL player seemingly tries to put the feud to a rest
Dez Bryant responded to the comments made by the Dallas Cowboys owner, warning Jerry Jones that it would be best not to mention his name. He also hinted that he would start revealing the truth about what he faced during his time at the team. He said:
"JERRY JONES I DONT THINK ITS SMART TO MENTION MY NAME. I KEPT QUIET ABOUT A LOT OF UNFAIR SHIT.. ON SOME G SHIT…WE CAN HAVE STORY TIME IF THATS WHAT WE ARE DOING."
Soon after this, an unlikely person joined the feud out of nowhere. Nicki Minaj replied to the above tweet made by Dez Bryant, where she said that she would also be willing to reveal secrets, not about Jerry Jones or the Dallas Cowboys, but about Roc Nation. She said:
"Hey, its Nicki Minaj. How about we play a game?🏈Every time you do a “Jerry Jones” or “NFL” story time, I’ll do a “story time” of my own."
Nicki Minaj has had a long-standing feud with Roc Nation, a company that was founded by Jay Z and Desiree Perez. She had previously accused the company of sabotaging her music career, among several other allegations.
Soon after Nicki Minaj's tweet, the former wide receiver and the Grammy-nominated singer started engaging in a spat of words expressed through a series of tweets. In one tweet, she wrote:
"All my stories will be about ROC NATION, JAYZ & THE ALLEGED RACIST DESIREE PEREZ, ROC NATION CEO. I hope you fully understand the rules. It’s your turn."
Soon after this tweet, Dez Bryant, who is represented by Roc Nation, released a video message where he said that he loved Nicki Minaj's music and was not looking forward to any further trouble with her. He said:
"Look Miss Nicki, leave me out of it. I don't want no problems. I am a huge fan. Hope you are having great day."
But the feud did not stop there. Nicki Minaj replied to the above video message and explained why she joined the feud in the first place. She pointed out that back in 2020, it was Dez Bryant, who had inserted himself into the feud between Minaj and rapper Meek Mill, where he had sided with Mill. She tweeted:
"It’s Mrs. Petty. This just came across my desk…from 2020. I guess you’re one of the guinea pigs they’ve been using to bully ppl for them? Did you think I came over here to play tweetsies wit yo silly ass, sir? See the problem with ppl who are always playing, is that they think everyone else is playing, too. I’d mind my business if I were you. Be blessed."
She further tweeted in reference to Dez Bryant's 2012 arrest for attacking his biological mother, Angela Bryant. She wrote:
"Go beat your mom & then ask Desiree Perez & JAYZ why they’ve ALLEGEDLY been the vile cunts they’ve been to so many black ppl while lining their own pockets & weaponizing racism in order to keep black ppl blinded from their truth."
Dez Bryant, who previously played for the Dallas Cowboys from 2010 to 2018, replied to the "Girl on Fire" singer, writing that he had allegedly defended himself. Bryant also brought up the issue regarding Nicki Minaj's husband, Kenneth Petty, who was sentenced to a year of home detention for failing to register himself as a s*x offender after moving to California, something that was required of him due to his previous conviction of attempted r*pe from 1995. Dez Bryant wrote:
"Say b*tch I didn’t go to jail or touch my mama.. I was defending myself.. I removed her nails from my skin .. folks know I was dealing with some curupt shit in Dallas .. I don’t get how you can even be on the internet with your husband being a s*x offender.. you said we are speaking facts weird h*e.. so come on."
Roc Nation has yet to respond to the accusations made by Nicki Minaj. Meanwhile, Dez Bryant replied to yet another tweet from Nicki Minaj, in which she asked him to fight her husband, Kenneth Petty, adding that she would give Bryant $10 million if he won. To this, the former Baltimore Ravens player responded by saying that he was ready to fight and win the match against Petty.
