French footballer Kylian Mbappe Lottin is the new face of the Dior summer 2026 collection. The announcement comes following Irish designer Jonathan Anderson’s appointment as the creative director of the fashion brand.

This will be Anderson’s first collection for Dior. The fashion campaign, featuring Mbappe, will be released on June 27, 2025. Sharing the news on Instagram, Anderson wrote:

“Kylian Mbappe is the voice of a generation and an inspiration to many people in the world of sport and beyond. These films show the charm and charisma that make him the perfect ambassador for this House Get ready for Dior Summer 2026.”

As seen in the photos and videos of the campaign, Mbappe wore various outfits, like a striped shirt, a grey suit, and a black tuxedo. The footballer became the global ambassador of the brand in 2021. He was the face of the men’s fashion segment led by Kim Jones. Back then, the company stated:

“Today, the House of Dior is particularly happy to welcome Kylian Mbappe with whom it shares the same values of exacting standards and generosity.”

The news of the footballer becoming the face of the summer 2026 collection comes days after he was hospitalised due to gastroenteritis. However, he was released on June 19, 2025. Manager of Real Madrid, Xabi Alonso, stated:

“He's better. t's been two days since he came back from hospital. He's recovering, and day by day we're increasingly optimistic about him for the next match.”

Kylian Mbappe on his love for sneakers and how he would react when his mother refused to buy them

For the unversed, Kylian Mbappe is also a fan of collecting sneakers. In 2018, he sat down with Hypebeast for an interview, where he talked about his first sneakers. Mbappe said they were Nike Air Maxes, though he couldn’t recall the exact model. Since money was tight back then, the shoes meant a lot to him.

He tried to keep them clean, but he often ended up playing football in them, which upset his mother because they were expensive. Sneakers meant a lot to him, as Kylian Mbappe said:

“It’s a real pleasure to me. I’m like a kid with a new toy when I get a new pair of sneakers. I’ve always been a sneaker lover so it’s a pleasure to buy new pairs and mix them with my clothes to flex a little.”

He also mentioned:

“When my mom didn’t want to buy me a certain model, I used to cry to change her mind. Sometimes it worked, sometimes not, so I moved on to something else.”

When asked about the excitement around a specific shoe model, Kylian Mbappe recalled how everyone in the locker room stared at him when Nike gave him his first pair of boots. His co-players wanted to try them, but he wasn't willing to lend them.

He said the pre-game huddles often focused on the shoes, which was understandable since the top players at the time wore them too.
