Justin Baldoni seems to have made a change in plans in his legal dispute against Blake Lively. According to a report by TMZ from June 24, 2025, Baldoni’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman, was supposed to refile four claims against the Gossip Girl actress. However, he didn’t make it on time.
Speaking to the media outlet, Justin Baldoni's lawyer said his client will now explore other options and prove that there was no sexual harassment or smear campaign against Blake Lively. He said:
“Instead of revising the existing claims, our clients will be pursuing additional legal options that are available to us.”
Reflecting on the dismissal of Justin Baldoni’s $400 million lawsuit, he said:
“The Court’s decision on the motion to dismiss has no effect whatsoever on the truth. We are confident that we will prevail against these factually baseless accusations.”
Freedman sat down with the TMZ hosts a few weeks earlier when he explained that the accusations made by Blake Lively were already part of the legal process, and from the beginning, their goal was to prove that there had been no smear campaign or sexual harassment.
He said she had not provided any solid evidence to support her claims and that the evidence pointed in the opposite direction.
When asked about the next steps, Freedman said he hoped she wouldn’t back out of the lawsuit, as he believed she was avoiding the truth while publicly claiming a false victory. He shared that her deposition was scheduled for June and that they intended to move forward with the case to prove their side.
The allegations against Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds that Justin Baldoni’s lawyer failed to refile
Bryan Freedman explained that during Blake Lively’s upcoming deposition in June, she would be required to answer questions under oath and present proof to support her claims.
He said they had video footage, messages, and emails, and planned to compare Blake Lively's statements with the actual evidence. Speaking of the grounds of refiling, he said:
“The judge was very specific about them. Intentional interference with contract against Blake and Ryan. Intentional interference with perspective economic advantage that exists still and that’s against Blake and Ryan. Negligent interference with the perspective economic advantage. That’s against Blake and Ryan. And breach of the implied duty of covenant of good faith and dealing and that’s against Blake.”
Freedman emphasized that clearing Justin Baldoni’s name was important, but so was defending TAG and Jennifer Abel, and that their goal was to uncover the truth and deliver a fair outcome for their clients. When the hosts asked about his reaction to the dismissal of the defamation claim, Freedman said:
"We weren’t pleased that the judge dismissed the defamation claim but it didn’t, you know, overall, it’s not what the case is about. I mean, let’s remember where we got started here."
He went on:
"We got started because Blake Lively filed a CRD complaint and then, you know, walked over and filed a lawsuit, which, you know, accused some very good people of a smear campaign and accused, you know, a terrific young man of s*xual harassment, both of which were completely untrue."
Freedman felt Justin Baldoni wanted to be vindicated, as he was aware of his actions, knowing that the truth must come to light. He said Baldoni was looking after his family and loved ones, amidst everything.
