Actors Matthew McConaughey and Emma Roberts were in attendance at the Jacquemus Paris Fashion show on June 30, 2025. As seen in a video circulating on social media platforms, actress Gillian Anderson, known for Sex Education, was seated between McConaughey and Roberts.
As the camera panned in front of their faces, Anderson kept staring directly at it while the two actors were busy talking to each other. Reports suggest that Matthew McConaughey and Roberts ignored Anderson, due to which she gave an awkward stare.
However, this is just a viral claim based on the short video. Page Six shared photos from the event in which the three of them, along with other celebrities, posed for photos. Gillian Anderson also had photos with Matthew McConaughey and his spouse, Camila Alves.
Meanwhile, TMZ noted that McConaughey and Roberts did not seem to intentionally ignore the Sex Education actress. In January 2025, McConaughey appeared on Daily Stoic’s podcast, where they discussed acting and an actor’s role. He said:
“The best compliment an actor can get is after you're done people on production go, ‘Dude, that's you’ and you do another role that's completely opposite and like that's you that you didn't see the work as they say with athletes, you don't see the work, you didn't see the prep you didn't see, ‘Oh, I got a planned move. Oh I got a little thing I'm going to do.’ No, you don't see any of that.”
Matthew McConaughey on why he values religion and the best compliments in life
Elsewhere in the podcast, Matthew McConaughey shared that the best moments in his life happened when he wasn’t asking anyone for permission to do what he believed was right.
He felt confident in his choices and didn’t feel the need to explain or apologize for them. The actor believed that true success came when he trusted himself completely and didn’t wait for others to tell him it was okay. Speaking of religion, he said:
“It’s why I am a fan of the value of religion. It’s about obedience to death. And having that in the mind and in the heart, that’s what’s going to happen. That’s the end and if there is a belief and something happens after which religion have, okay, what do I do here now? How I live, it matters.”
Matthew McConaughey explained that before starting a movie, he liked to imagine what the movie poster would look like. He would talk with the director and producer and ask them what they pictured. If they described a big scene with many people and a sunset, he knew the story would be more epic and action-filled.
However, if they described a close-up of his face with a scar, Matthew McConaughey understood the movie would focus more on his character’s emotions. Even though the final result might change, starting with that poster idea helped him understand how the director wanted to tell the story and how he should play the role.
